I've been making some side by side pictures lately for jobs that I post to my detailing page. I think sometimes it's easier/quicker than scrolling through pictures to see the difference:
Dents, chips, all that tar, rust...lot of people wouldn't even want to work on that. To me your efforts were well rewarded. What a car! What a ride...literally!
Two things make this American luxury car and other cars like it (Mercury Marquis of same year) the last of the great American luxury car. Those two things will likely never be duplicated again in American luxury cars; plenty of room and the length of the wheel base that allowed that "floating" down the road experience.
I'm talking more than enough room for 4 people and still plenty of room for 6 people. No hunting for leg room in those cars. The other thing is the ride. Because of the suspension of the day along with the long wheel base no American built car today rides as good, and it's quit possible those cars still have no completion in that department. Just think if that car had a modern suspension under it...holy cow.
For you youngsters that think the words above are a little over the top, I challenge you to find a well kept car Lincoln or Marquis of the 1977-1979 era of American luxury cars. Then and only then will you understand. Be sure and take a long trip. You'll be wishing Detroit would get their act together again.
Great job. It looks fantastic and it has some character now that it didn't have before.
