This is a repeat customer for whom I did a Porsche Boxster a few years ago. They drove 2 hours to come to me. The C300 was booked for a one step polish, but it got more in some areas where it was needed. I quoted 12 hours but took 13. I gladly ate the hour for the repeat business and for them making the effort to come all that way. This was to receive CQuartz Finest.
Here it is as it arrived. I forgot to shoot it when the sun was higher and was showing more of the swirls in the hood. Someone had laid a briefcase on the hood and had caused some damage. That was my primary focus as well as some chips including one inside a ding. Check it out:
First up was washing the wheels. The barrels were cleaned with Tarminator followed by Zep Citrus. The tires were cleaned with Zep 505. The wells were cleaned with LATA (LA Totally Awesome). The faces were cleaned with a demoted wash mitt and Megs Hyper Wash. The barrels were shot with Aqua Bead.
The car was then washed with Megs HW followed by IronX paste. It was then brought inside and clayed.
I tried to chose a fairly aggressive one step but also wanted a great shine out of it. I first tried a Megs mf pad with Rupes 21 and M205. That was OK, but just didn't give me the "pop" I wanted to the paint. I then chose the burg Megs foam compounding pad + M205. OUTSTANDING! The scratches and bad swirls were compounded first with my Flex 3401 + Tuf Buff black wool + M100 followed by the a/m polishing stage. Head and tail lights were also polished.
The paint was then double coated with CQF as was the head and tail lights and the faces of the wheels. The CQF was then baked with my IR light:
The trim was done with DLux. The windshield with Fly By 30 and the tires were shot with OB using my air gun. Here she is all done. I was very proud of how this came out:
One strange thing I noticed: The door handles were painted in metallic black whereas the rest of the car was straight black. It makes me think they were shot off the car and Franz musta got confused;
Door ding chip filled:
Left front fender scuff all repaired although there is still a dent there:
Thanks for looking! Comments appreciated.
