Out From Hibernation: 2013 Charger SRT

This gentleman approached me and wanted his car done right away. He called in March when it was still cold. I usually don't start doing cars until April but decided to kick off the season early as this sounded like an awesome car and I really wanted to do it. Talk about jumping back in with both feet...this was to be a correction detail on black paint as well as a wheels-off detail with CQF. This was going to be the first time using V6 too. Let's see if I lost my touch...

Here was the car as it arrived. The paint is metallic black and was in really nice shape save for some minor swirls and some chips. Even thought it's a daily driver, he wanted it as nice as it could be..game on!!

Boy, I LOVE these black chrome wheels! I had done one set of them before and I think they look gorgeous. The red Brembos are just as sexy as Hell too!

One of the chips needing repair:

You know how good this trim is going to look afterward with DLux on it! Those exhaust tips are cool too.

I was to do the interior too, but that was just a basic vac and windows.

First up was to clean the wheels. Even though they were being removed, I still wanted to get as much of the work done on them while they were still on to save time. The barrels were cleaned with my Daytona brush and Megs Hyper Wash and some added Zep Citrus.
The wells were cleaned with LATA.
The tires were cleaned with Zep 505.
The faces were cleaned with Megs HW.

The car was then washed for the first time using Megs HW and my incredimitt. That was followed by an IronX paste wash with my incredipad.
The car was clayed using my Speedy Prep towel.

The wheels were removed one at a time and then re-cleaned with ONR and then chemically cleaned with DG Squeaky Clean (as well as the caliper). Those were double coated with CQF and then re-installed (all with "Dodge" pointing the same way, LOL) and then torqued to spec at 110 ft/lbs. Here's a wheel in the process:

The front of the car had been painted due to being hit by a deer. It was a good paint job but the paint on the front was softer than the rear. I had received a sample of Flat Top (thanks again Mark!) that I wanted to try. I first tried it with a yellow B/S pad and it did OK but did not bite down enough to remove some light scratches I could see. I stepped it up to my favourite cutting pad, the TB black wool using my Flex 3401. As usual, that did the job. I liked using the Flat Top. I did end up switching to M105 as I want to finish it anyway and I really know how to make that product work. That was followed by M205 + white B/S + 3401. I then did a paint cleaning stage to prepare for the CP Finest using DG Squeaky Clean + blue B/S + 3401. Man, oh, man did that paint sparkle under the lights!! I was looking forward to coating it and seeing it in the sun.

The paint, head and tail lights as well as all the glass except the windshield got a double coat of CQF. The windshield got coated with Fly-by-30. I ended up having this car for about 5 days due to my daughters getting the Flu and then me. Finally it was done and time to photograph...

    Here's a few inside shots:

Here's 2 with LED lighting for inspection:

Let's see it in the early April sunlight:

    One of the chip repairs:

    Let's see some close ups!

    DLux looking amazing as usual:

The exhaust tips got DLux too:

Interior after a vac and clean glass:

I'll leave you with this one last shot:

    Thanks for looking! Comments appreciated.

Thanks. It's a nicer (heavier) flake than on my Lincoln.
