    Restoring a beast

The customer bought a car from someone in the family for a BARGAIN and wanted it to look better to turn some heads as he was driving his dream car.

Went to look at the car at work as he works in the same department.

Could see that i had my work cut out for me ops:

The customer said that he couold not afford a full detail so it was decided to do just the paint correction.
Afterwards i decided to do the enjin detail and interior seats dressing and headlight correction for free on agreement that he would do some advertising for me

The car on arrival was dirty as was expected.

First up was the headlight correction

    Before

    During

    After

I Used 800,1500,2000 sandpaper and then follwed up with FG400 on an orange cyclo pad on my cyclo DA and sealed with powerlock.

Next was the engine which was in a real state as he said the owner was too scared to wash the motor. 8)

    Before

    And After

Next was the car washing with Valet pro Citrus pre wash and VP Advanced neutral snow foam. Then 2 BM followed by VP Dragons breath and then Autofinesse Oblitarate.
Then snow foam and Rinsed before giving it once over with a fine Clay Mitt.

The owner also asked that i remove the double sided tape residue on the front and back bumper. This i did with VP Citrus glue and tar remover.
I then checked the paint and found what i already knew with paint like this. Horendous swirls!

I Then did a test spot with My Cyclo DA and an orange cutting pad and Mezerna FG400 which worked wonders for this paint!

I also picked up that the car had clear coat failure and went over it very cautiously and pointed it out to the owner. ops:

After the FG 400 i wnt over to a Black finishing pad and Mezerna 4000 which really made the flakes in the paint pop!

The Car then was Given a coat of Fusso 99 Dark and then topped with CG 5050 Concourse Paste wax!

    After Pics

Thanks for looking and comments and suggestions welcome!

Also thanx to Lawrence for the great advice on making this paint come alive!

Yeah, funny that GM is still using the Lumina name elsewhere in the world. That car has been rebadged and sold under different brands and names in so many places. Sadly, with production in Australia coming to an end, so will that car.
