My First Triple Coat! (With Finest)

My mother just bought this new Lexus GS350. I had coated her old one and this one was to receive the deluxe treatment too. What I decided to do for her that I've never done for anybody else, was to put a triple layer of Finest on the GS. I made sure that I would have enough in the bottle to do so as I was going around the car (barely I might add) and I was pleased that I was able to do it to the entire car.

There are no before shots of the car. I cleaned the wheel barrels with Zep Citrus and then a Daytona brush in a bucket of DG 901. The faces got sprayed with ZC and agitated with a brush and then washed with a mitt with 901. The wells were cleaned with LATA and a long handled brush. The tires were cleaned with Zep 505. The barrels were shot with CP Hydro since I wasn't going to be pulling them.

The car was then hand washed with DG 901 followed by an intensive wash with IronX paste. It was clayed for the most part with a Speedy Prep towel but typical for a white car, there were some spots that needed "old school" clay to knock them out. The car was blown off with the Master Blaster afterward.

For the paint polish, I ended up settling on yellow B/S + Ameridepth + Flex 3401. This was every bit as powerful as using M205. I'm liking Ameridepth more and more lately. The wheels were cleaned with DG Squeaky Clean.

It was somewhat sunny the day I got done polishing and it was the last sunny day in the forecast, so I've got some outside shots late in the day that are just after being polished and prior to being coated:

The car was brought inside and the next day it was triple coated: Wheels, glass (except windshield), headlights and tail lights (which had been polished too). The windshield got Fly-By-30 and the trim was done with DLux. The tires were shot via my air gun with Opti Bond at 100%. The paint was given a ReLoad wipe down as well. I was only able to shoot it inside and to be honest I'm not crazy about how the shots turned out. They look much more dull than normal. Maybe I should have used my tripod; served me right for being lazy with the camera. Oh well, can't change that now. Here's how the pics did turn out:

In person, the gloss and slickness (the slickness aided and abetted by ReLoad) were off the charts. Was the triple coat worthwhile? ABSOLUTELY!! I hope to be able to upsell someone next year on that as I honestly do believe it made a visual difference and of course is a thicker coating which can only mean better protection. My Mom was very pleased and that's what was really important to me anyway.

    Thanks for looking!

Have you done a thread on your set-up for spraying tire dressing?

If not, can you please start one?

Questions I have for the new thread:

Do you think it uses less product?
    How much less?

    Does it speed application?
How much time does it save you per car?

Does it yield a more attractive final result?

    Details of your set -up
-Are you using a filter? What kind?
-Minimum compressor required (psi & cfm)
    -Type of gun
-Separate gun for each product or just separate reservoir?
-Will it spray inverted for wheel wells?

    What else have you sprayed?

    Any video or action shots?

Very good work, definitively something our mom deserves, the best we can give.

Thanks for sharing and if possible, keep us updated on this triple coating outcomes.

    Kind Regards.

Wow that looks absolutely perfect. I bet it looks even better out in the sunlight. The tire coating looks wonderful too. Your mom must be very proud!

You know, now that winter seems to have come early, this will be something that I can do that's detail related. I'll be putting all my stuff away in the next week or so (how depressing is that!).

Yes, I'll shoot a video and do a writeup on it. Once you've got it set up, it's quick and easy.

Thanks kindly. She had eye surgery and hadn't even had a chance to drive it yet!
