Honda Odyssey van getting some love
This van belongs to my neighbour and they've had it since new. Unfortunately, a lot of it has been painted. The paint job was tough to work with. Anyway, with a 2 step process and coated with Americoat, it came out pretty good I think. There was one very nasty gouge up front that I got to look better anyway. He did not want this to turn out like the Lexus or Infiniti, and I actually came in under his budget. Cool.
Here it is as it arrived:
Outside view of nasty gouge:
The wheels got my usual treatment of Tarminator, Zep Citrus on the faces and barrels while the tires were cleaned with Zep 505 and the wells with LATA.
The van was then washed with DG 901 followed by an IronX decontamination wash. It was brought inside and clayed thereafter. Here's what my CFL's were showing me:
Inside view of nasty gouge:
I had Bryan send me an HD black wool pad to try out and compare it to my long-standing favourite, my TB black wool. They look very similar but I found it didn't finish down as well on this non-factory paint. I will be trying it out on some more before I make up my mind about which one I prefer. I was also trying HD Cut on this job as well. The finishing polish in this case was Reflect using a white B/S pad. The coating of choice was Americoat. Fly-By-30 was applied to the windshield. There were also many, many chips that got filled. The tires dressed with DG Wet Shine (the last of it, boohoo).
Here it is all done:
Remember the nasty gouge? Better, but not perfect by any means. Down low like that, at least you can't really see it now unless you go looking. It was just filled with touch up, buffed over with Reflect and coated:
Thanks for looking!

In the closeup pictures with the long florescent light in them, the paint looks like it has a hammertone finish. I've got a similar finish on my Nissan. Did your correction reduce that? Thanks!

Yes, that was part of the issue that the repaint was presenting me with. The wool pad + Amerirocks cleaned it up quite a bit, but not perfectly. You can only improve upon a bad paint job so much.

As a fellow swagger wagon owner myself (2012 Honda Odyseey touring elite) not my dream car but taking it on the chin for the family, Richy turned that baby around. Great work as always. How long did the total process take?
