    A little Blackfire Midnight Sun

I detailed another car (about 69K on the clock) this weekend:

    Today's efforts

    • Polished using Poorboys Polish with Sealant on one side and Blackfire Total Polish and Seal on the other
    • Plastic chrome protected by Mothers Cleaner Wax
    • Textured Trim protected by Ultima's Tire and Trim Guard
    • Headlights and taillights polished with Mothers Power Plastic
    • Glass cleaned with Spray Glass Cleaner (exterior) and Mothers Glass Cleaner (interior)
    • Protected by Blackfire Midnight Sun
    • Applied Wolfgang Detail Spritz to chrome wheels
    • Polished behind door pulls with Meg's 205 by hand
    • Wheel liners protected Solution Finish
    • Tires dressed with Optimum Tire Bond
    • Interior surfaces cleaned with Mothers VLR and Auto Finesse Interior Detailer
    • Dash protected with Blackfire Interior Protectant

I am curious about the two different polishes...are you doing a test on them?

Yes, I was comparing them. I had not posted my comments yet.

    Machine: Rupes 15

    Pads used (all 5.5-in):
    Lake Country CCS black finishing
    Uber (B&S) blue pad
    Lake Country Crimson HT pad

    Observations:

Scent - Blackfire is clear winner with the blueberry (fruity in any event) like scent

Ease of use - Poorboy's. It seemed easy to buff cleanly no matter when you stopped polishing

Cut - Poorboy's. The ACC chart says PwS has a cut of 3 but with finishing pad it did not seem to have that much cut.

Slickness - tie. Neither seemed to be that slick with an hour after application.

Look - I give the edge to Blackfire for clarity. PB's seemed to mute the flake. Gloss seemed to be able the same.

Topping compatibility - I put Midnight Sun over it and did not see any difference.

I did try several pads and my Rupes 15 did not seem to like Crimson HT pad (using TPnS at the time). It tended to hop. I am not sure exactly why. No issues with a flat pad.

Great job Al. Love the comparison of PWS and BFTPS. I have a detail coming up and this will help me decide which one to use.
