Mercedes Benz AMG C63 Black Series - Elevated Shine

Finally getting around to posting this job I did a month or so ago. The car is a 2012 AMG C63 Black Series, the only one in the state of Colorado as far as the owner knows. The car was terribly dirty but underneath the dirt and grime, the paint was in fantastic shape. The goal was to get it cleaned up and and looking as sharp as possible so it was ready for spring. The full write up is on my website:

Mercedes AMG C63 Black Series show car shine | Elevated Shine Auto Detailing

    Products and process used:
    • 303 Aerospace Protectant
    • Rigid shop vac
    • P21S Total Auto Wash
    • Grit Guards
    • Chemical Guys Citrus Wash
    • Sheepskin wash mitts
    • CarPro Iron X
    • Clay Magic detailing clay with ONR lubrication
    • Microfiber waffle weave drying towels
    • Microfiber all purpose towels
    • Spot polishing with M205 and foam applicator, also PC 7424XP and 3" LC white pad
    • Chemical Guys EZ-Creme Glaze applied by hand/MF applicator
    • Blackfire Wet Diamond paint sealant applied via PC 7424xp & 5" LC black pad
    • Collinite 845 Insulator Wax applied via PC 7424xp & 5" LC black pad (the next day)
    • Meguiar’s glass cleaner
    • Tires dressed with Megs Hyper dressing @ 4:1

On to some pictures, first the dirty interior before. Lots of dust on the dash, console, dirt and pet hair on mats, seats were fairly clean:

Interior after clean-up and detailing using the Rigid shop vac and 303 AP, seats were wiped clean with just water on MF towel (he paid for just basic interior):

On to the exterior before pictures. Because of the silver color it is hard to tell just how dirty it is:

The car received a standard 2 bucket hand wash with CG Citrus wash and the sheepskin mitts. The wheels had so much brake dust and dirt on them it took a long time and extra effort to get them clean (they have an awkward matte like finish). After the wash, I blow dried the car quickly and then gave it an Iron X treatment. The car was rinsed and dried off again with large waffle weave towels. (sorry no pics)

After that the entire car was clayed by hand and there was (still) a good amount of buildup on the surface as evident in the baggy test.

A little paint transfer from hitting something. This polished out easily with M205 via PC7424XP and a 3" LC white pad:

Next, I went over the entire car using the PC7424XP with a 5" LC black pad and Pinnacle Black Label surface cleansing polish. On most cars I would skip this step when just applying sealant/wax, but with this car I wanted it as clean as possible:

Once the cleansing polish was removed it was ready for the CG EZ Creme glaze. I chose a multi-layered approach in order to maximize the gloss and depth to the finish. The glaze was applied by hand via an MF applicator and removed. (sorry no pics)

After the glaze, Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant was applied, again using the PC7424XP and a 5" LC black pad. Only picture I have of this was the removal process:

When the sealant was completely removed I left for the day and came back the following morning. I applied the final layer, Collinite 845 wax, via the PC7424XP and a 5" LC black pad once again. I then dressed the tires with Megs Hyper dressing @ 4:1, cleaned windows with Megs glass cleaner, and did my final inspections and touch ups with Megs QD. The remaining pictures are the finished product taken with my amateur DSLR skills I hope you enjoyed the write up and let me know if you have any questions or comment/criticism. Thanks!

Indeed, they are sweet! Just starting the thing up and driving it in and out of the shop was exhilarating, sounds so good!

The M205 worked just fine for what I needed it to do, polish out the paint scuffs on the bumper and the plastic black trim that had water spots.

The paint on the car was nearly perfect otherwise, which I believe is a testament to the ceramiclear clear coat. There was not a swirl or scratch to be found which I thought was quite amazing.
