Showing some love to my sister

So I have a sister who owns this 2001 Toyota Camry, as you can tell she doesn't maintain it, in fact it's been months since it was washed, period!

You can tell from the front end it does have a ton of mileage on it.

I was concerned with her lights when driving at night.

The tires when I picked it up.

Cat scratch fever, darn cats scratched the hood up pretty bad, also no shine to the paint.

She went on vacation two months ago,2200 mile round trip, snow, rain, salt, name it she went through it.

    Plain and simple, filty.

Here you can see just how dirty the car was looking at the rear bumper.

    Pillows look horrible.

Crying out for some Wolfgang Trim Sealant.

I picked it up yesterday at 9am

Rinsed off the car well, a lot of crap on the fender wells.
Foamed down with Mr.Pink and APC, let it dwell then repeat.
Rinsed off again then another round of foaming and started the wash, it was so bad I washed it twice.

Then I clayed it, to my surprise it wasn't that bad since the last time I clayed it which was last summer.

Due to the color I can't really show much of the scratches I had to deal with but please trust me, they were there, cats did a number on her car.

First I tried a yellow 5" yellow pad using the Über , didn't do much as far as removing the heavy defects.
Then again with the yellow pad using the 105, a little better but at this rate not sure if I could have done it in one weekend.

Using my deWalt 849x along with an 8" wool pad and the WG Über compound seemed the way to go.
I did the entire first step using the Über but on the hood where it was the worst I used the 105, gave me the best cut, I knew soon I'd have to come back to my 105

Step two used the DeWalt again along with a white pad and my favorite, the 205.
By this time I could see the paint begin to pop once again.

The head lights had to be wetsanded then polished using the Über and 205 then Plast-X to remove the cloudiness.
They didn't come out as well as I wanted but they were much better after for night time driving by my sister.

After I was all done with removing the defects I used the DPRW to remove the dusting I had left over.

Next up was time to seal it up, I chose the DP Opti-Coat Paint Sealant, good stuff, used it over my WGGPS.

    The results were good IMO

    Now for the after pictures

    Dressed with the D170.

    Love the DPPS

    Much better

I just dropped it off to my sister, got me a HUG

    Thanks for looking

Thumbs up Re: Showing some love to my sister

    What a save!

The 2 most impressive results were the headlights and the paint color, looks like 2 different shades!! These "real world" turnarounds are what makes this forum great. Sure its nice to see high end cars but this was a "real world" save, good job

Yep, not always about a 100k car, poor people want nice, clean cars too

    Wow!
It looks like you drove it through a time machine and it's 2001 all over again.
    You're a good man.

    Thank you very much mate.

You know without my rotary and my wool pad the job would have taken much longer and not get the results.
Not often I use my wool pad but it's there for the worst cars that come my way.

Rotary, wool and m105 = Excellence
The Über though worked well for most of the car but for those nasty scratches the 105 was the savior.
