Phoenix Detail - Model S Telsa - Polished & Coated

We did it...finally...no not just a Tesla (this is actually our 3rd one we've worked on), but a silver car. Its been so long since we have worked on silver! Most of the time with us its black or red or something dark...but silver needs love too!

The owner of this Tesla had read good reviews of us on TeslaMotors.com and contacted us inquiring about having their car protected with Opti-Coat Pro.

For some reason it seems all the Tesla owners in Az are 2 hours or so away from us, but so far they have all made the drive for us to work on their car..which is pretty flattering.

The thing about long drives is...well, you do tend to get the car pretty dirty along the way lol. Road grime, bugs, brake dust and such all tends to build up pretty quickly, but thats ok

The owners arrived just before noon to drop their baby off with us. This is actually the first one we had seen with a solid painted roof:

We had them pull it to the side yard so we could get it washed and prepped for polishing.

The first thing would be to tackle the dirty wheel, tires and barrels:

We used some 1Z to spray them down with:

Even on a new car its amazing how much grime was already there...but it all began to break down:

2" wheel woolies are just awesome:

    After rinsing:

And of course for the faces...and especially lug nuts...the Atlasta Soft Tip is a must have:

    All better:

Tires were then cleaned...and wheel well areas of course needed some attention:

While i was working that, Dani was busy getting the interior done. Not a lot to clean up but...still a nice touch to add:

Then of course the bugs had to be dealt with:

We let them soak for a couple of minutes with some Power Clean 1:1...it dissolves them quickly and safely...then we just pressure wash them away and can then begin with the wash.

After the wash was done we did an inspection of the paint...not a LOT of defects really...the worse was on the trunk lid and a few on the hood...the rest of the paint was really in decent condition.

The color of course is difficult to capture defects on camera, but here's a few:

Very hard to see i know, just some lighter RIDS around the LED light.

Next we double teamed the paint. I worked the horizontal panels (roof, hood and trunk) while Dani tackled the vertical ones.

One of the very cool things about the Tesla is, theres very little trim to have to worry about. The handles, side mirror arms, window trim etc is all chrome...which we obviously can polish. There is only a very thin plastic strip at the bottom along the sides (shown in earlier pics) and then the plastic under the rear bumper that really needs to be avoided. A detailer friendly car for sure.

After polishing it was then time to prep and apply Opti-Coat Pro to all the paint, hard plastic trim, lenses and wheel faces. Also dressed the tires, wiped the jambs...cleaned the tips...oh wait, this doesn't have an exhaust!

By this time we were trying to get as much done as possible before the sun went down so, no photos were taken during the process, but the next day we were able to finish up by applying FlyBy30 to the glass...and then pulling it out to get some nice after shots.

The owners showed up just as we were about to pull it out, so they were circling around admiring their car as we snapped a few finished photos.

    So, out she came!

    Looking sharp from this angle!

Dani actually got me in this picture:

Check it out, we even got some decent reflection shots out of silver!

    Very cool car...inside and out:

    Got shine?

Talking to the owners about recommended follow-up every 6 months or so. Gotta love car owners who appreciate the fact that maintenance is essential to keeping up the investment they've made:

And one final shot before the owners left:

All in all a very satisfying detail. Paint came out very nice, owners were very happy and of course it's always a plus to work on a cool car.

Thanks all for taking a look...hope to have some more up soon

It is a really cool car...the 17" display on the inside is just awesome. The owner said Tesla is now working on one that will cost under 40k...it's just on the drawing board right now but he said its something new their working on...guess we'll see

Thanks guys. Yes they were both very pleased and the fact they came to us because of the referral our first Tesla customer gave us made it even more sweet.

Thanks again! Have another one set up to come in late November or early December...it too has the all painted roof but is white.
