That's a very nice example of a 1957 Chevy Bel Air correctly detailed.

Is there anything about detailing classic cars like this that you like over detailing modern cars?

I like working with lacquer paint, I do get a few modern cars as well ( just corrected a black CTS-V the dealer destroyed last week ) but I have been working with survivor cars for a long time and thats more what I'm known for. On the other hand there are times I just wish I was dealing with a newer car. I just did a 57 Rolls Royce it was one of one built and the paint was the softest I have ever seen it was almost unworkable.

Thanks, if I recall fixer, 205 and Wolfgang deep gloss. Things get to be a bit of a blur around here.

And there you go... real paint.

I too like working on solvent evaporation lacquers and enamels, to me they are the real deal. My favorite project is restoring "original" single stage paint on barn finds.

One thing I always do is when a new detailer, or a young detailer, (usually both), come onto the forum and share an upcoming project they get to work on that has single stage paint, I encourage them to take advantage of the opportunity because it's becoming more and more rare to work on such diamonds in the rough.

Thanks, Mike I actually just went to quote a job on a 1950 Chevy Police car ( guess what color haha ) but yes I agree I have had good luck in thisbusiness especially given my age. Glad I stuck with it!
