21' "Calusa" Boat Oxidation Removal - Complete Makeover!! LOTS OF PICS!!

The other day I had the pleasure of bringing this beautiful red boat back to life! It was heavily oxidized, so I started with a 600 grit paste compound and followed up with a 1000 grit liquid compound, both with a rotary buffer and wool pads. Finally, an AIO liquid marine polymer sealant and wax was applied with the Flex 3401 DA Polisher for ultimate protection and shine.

Total time invested: 9 hours (1.5 hrs on the deck, remaining on paint)
Total beers consumed afterward: A lot

Boats are my favorite, they always have such an amazing, dramatic turnaround and are so much fun to work on. Enjoy!!

Yes, you are right about the turnaround on boats, I bought a 16 foot center console kind of like that one, highly oxidized, I was stunned when I was all done how nice it came out, good work btw. What did you use on the deck?

    Nice Work!

How do you tackle the bottom of the boat?

APC and a good quality deck brush did the trick. For tougher spots I use a marine grade deck cleaner similar in composition to Soft Scrub with Bleach.

    Thank you!

If by bottom you mean the bottom part of the hull (not the deck), I use StarBrite Hull Cleaner. Super easy, wipe on, rinse off, clean hull!

Not too often are boats featured, you did a great job on the deck and hull!
