On this one I was able to one step this car with FG400 and a blue hybrid light cutting pad. I was doing 6-8 section passes with the last two passes with just the weight of the machine. I was using a pad conditioning brush after every other section and washing the pads after every panel in my pad washer and then spinning them dry on my rotory. This way takes more time but insures I have the freshest pads possible. Personally I think its the best way. I also circulate 3 pads between use.

Thank you Bobby. You should really try this compound. It is my new go to product.

I noticed you said you used the pad washer on your 3401. Is it just me or is it a pain in the ars because the handle hits the top of my pad washer every time I pump the solution into the pad. I decided to proceed with a lower speed and kept the top open

I see what you are saying and I fill mine up with a bit more water (to the Grit Gaurd) and I pump mine just a bit while only running up to speed two. I still keep the lid on it and just go down to the point that it bottoms out on the handle. This way enables a clean pad and also dosent sling water everywhere. I then lift it above the water and keep it at speed two to spin some water out and then take the pad off the 3401 and attach it my 849x and proper backing plate and then spin dry it slowly working up to 3500 rpm. Lately my 849x is just being used as an expensive pad dryer as I can get so much correction with the 3401, hybrid pads, and FG400.

Quite an expensive pad dryer that's for sure, at least it's getting used for something!

I have been getting a lot of questions about my pad washing technique. I think I will try and get a thread/review together to show my way.
