    paint correction

just wondering how long it takes people to perform a paint correcion job on an average sized sedan that has swirls, scratches etc.?
also do you charge the client by the hour to correct paint or a set price once vehicle has been inspected?
    cheers mike

Never done a black car (non metallic) under 30 hours. Each car is different ant there is no way to give a time frame. I charge by the hour.

Time can range from how much perfection you want to achieve. I will usually take around 5-10 hours for paint correction or sometimes longer. I charge per hour.

I agree with Ryan, ball park average is 5 to 10 hours.

Paint correction is a lengthy process and to do it correctly takes time and patience to get it done right. The the condition of the finish naturally plays a major roll in the length of time the correction process takes...

Nothing, start with a rotary and set realistic expectations before you start...

The term paint correction to each of us means different things. As I said, the level of defects plays a key roll in this number. Remember, we're not talking about show car perfection finish but rather the average detail.

The type of machine, rotary vs. dual action, also changes the time equation greatly. I grew up with a rotary so it's my first choice for aggressive correction...

Thanks BobbyG - I do this for a living and to me paint correction means perfection. Now it makes sense. So what ever comes out comes out. Sorry, I wanted to put some $$$$ in your wallet.

I understand what you're trying to say and if the job warrants 2 to 3 days then this is what's needed to complete the task and charged accordingly...
