    Two headlight restorations.

I got the headlight restoration itch and decided to practice on my wife's car, and then my mother in law's.

I used the 3M restoration kit and a corded drill.

The left Accord light had some swirls that were hard to buff out, but they turned out looking a hun Protectant dred times better than before. I sealed them with Meguiar's Headlight.

Both are full-time outdoor cars. I'm going to be reapplying the Protectant every week and see if it oxidizes as part of a long-term test of the Meguiar's product.

You got a great result. Both car's lenses look like new.

I'll be following your long term results on the protectant. It would be a nice addition for people that don't have the time to use the thinned spar on their lenses.

Fantastic! I assume the kit doesn't come with a protectant?

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to posting lots of stuff here in the future.

Not with this kit (39008), but one of the lens "renewal" kits they make (39045) has a sample of protectant (3M Performance Finish "Superior Waxing Solution"). But they also sell a renewal kit without the protectant I believe.

Not sure why any company would sell a restoration kit for headlights and not include some sort of protection for the new lens surface.

I assume a regular sealant like Duragloss 501 could be used on the headlights?

Hmm, not sure. I'll have to defer to the more experienced polishers here on the board for that one. I'm not sure of the abrasiveness of 501 (especially since I'm not even sure of the abrasiveness of the included 3M compounding polish since I can't seem to find a full bottle of it on the market anywhere…).
