    BMW 535 X Drive

This is a BMW I did last week the owner lives out in the country and is a rep for a large audio chain so it sees its share of gravel roads and highway miles. The car was covered in tar from tar and chip country roads. I have probably two hours in just tar removal. The rest of the car had your normal 85,000 miles worth of rids, scuffs and scratches. The hood was probably the worst. I ended up using M 105 and a yellow flat LC pad with a 849x rotary. The rest of the car was then polished using a GG 6, D300 and MF cutting pads and M205 with finishing pads. It was then sealed with BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection. The interior was a mess to say the least. I cleaned it up using OPC and CG leather conditioner on the seats. For the carpets I used APC+ and LGM. The floor mats were scubbed and then power washed to get all of the grit out of them. He had the rubber mats over the carpets mats. All of the interior vinyl was treated with CarPro Perl at 1:5. While I was at it I also did a mini review on Mothers Aluminum wheel cleaner comparing it to Maguires Wheel Brightener which you can read here.

    Now on to the pictures.

The car as it arrived. Covered in bugs, dirt and caked on brake dust on the wheels. The tar wouldn’t reveal its ugly head until later. That’s when everything came to a stop and the day started to drag. Man I hate old setup tar!

Work cut out for me on this one. This really made me want a new PF51 vac.

As you can see this was not going to be an easy job but let’s see what we can do with a little TLC to ‎bring some new life and pride into this Beemer 

Starting with the wheels you can see how the Mothers likes to cling to the wheel better and suds up ‎nicely when your working it with some brushes. In comparison the Meguiars just runs off. Personally I ‎liked the Mothers better. Cleaning ability is on par between the two, each cleaner needed two ‎applications to clean the wheels and they both have an acidic smell to them but the cost savings goes ‎to the Meguiars.‎
    Mothers

    Meguiars

    Getting a Dawn foam soak.‎

    One rough hood

All taped up and ready to get shiny.‎

It was getting dark outside by the time I finished it was a long day so I wasn’t able to get many after ‎shots. ‎

Hope you enjoyed the post 

    WOW! NICE SAVE!! GREAT WORK!!!

    P.S. - That's a BMW 335 coupe, not a 535 GT.

Great job, im sure your customer was happy.
Some questions, What brushes did you use to get between the rim and the brake disc.

What did you use to clean and dress the faux wood trim pieces.

How would you dilute something like meguiars apc to put into a sprayer bottle ?

Thanks for the correction I got the numbers mixed up. It is a 335 not a 535 not that that matters much but..... Its in the details.

Bill the wood trim was actually in good shape all it needed was a wipe down and some carnuba on it. getting between the wheel and the disc was no problem but I did have to move the car to get the area where the caliper was. I used a few different brushes CG Ferret, lug nut brush and a Daytona. I mixed the Megs APC + at 3 parts water 1 part cleaner. Thats on the strong side but it was also pretty dirty.

    WOW, that BMW was trashed!!

I think I saw it racing at Talladega on Sunday so that's probably where the rubs came from....

I really enjoy threads and post like this. In comes a trashed car and with the right skills, product, and equipment even something like this can be transformed into something gorgeous...

    A challenging job well done!!
