Thumbs up 1997 Jaguar XK8-Palmetto State Detailing

well here is a jaguar XK8 i did today, i was expecting a bad interior, it honestly was not bad at all, worst of it was, was rust stains following the seams on the top, so suspecting a rusted bolt in there due to lack of top protection and it followed the top supports. they came out easy, some around rear window came out but the rust seemed to bleach the fabric(was not my cleaner!) then came the finding out the one of the leather seats was redyed instead of cleaned and some bondo for leather smeared on there. carpets were dyed as well and saw overspray on the trim peices....why do people dye carpets and interiors instead of cleaning them! anyways this vehicle was schedualed for a one step polish and a wax, along with a full interior. did not do engine as i don't really touch them unless asked or its planned before hand(due to liability reasons mainly). the focus was really on the interior of this vehicle, the exterior removed some swirls but alot still remained but as i told the customer it would need a full 2-3 step polish and that was not in the works anyways. so basically was just trying to enhance the gloss and give a good coat of protection and clean/treat the convertible top.

    process/products used

Wash- Xmt Gel shampoo & conditioner
Wash Media-Cobra supreme chenille wash mit
Convertible top cleaned with wolfsteins fabric cleaner protected with 303 fabric guard
Wheel Cleaner-Griots wheel cleaner(one with bbs logo on it)
    Tire/Well cleaner- Purple Power 4:1
    Various brushes used on wheels/tires.
Clay Bar'd using clay magic blue with DP rinseless as lube
Polished using rotary and 5.5" flat green B&S pad with optimum polish 2
Waxed using PC7346 with 5.5" red no name pad and Collinite 845
    Tires dressed using opti-bond
    Wells dressed with tire foam
    Interior cleaned using meguiars APC+ @ 20:1
    Carpets cleaned using meguiars APC+ @ 10:1
Headliner cleaned using APC+@20:1 and steamer
Leather cleaned with APC+ @ 20:1(lexol does not work to clean leather.....)
Leather dressed with lexol (stuff is too sticky on wipe off, leather felt good though)
Rest of interior dressed with detailers pro interior protectant
Woodgrain accents waxed using collinite 845

That is the proccess and products used! Now onto the pictures!

Those cars had ratty headliners. The body style though was very appealing

    Nice job Opie!

    Dear Matt

That's quite a job you did there!

I know you made the Jag's owner proud.

    Thank you for sharing.

Nice work! Were you able to clean up the steering wheel or was it just wear and tear? Thing looks nasty.

ty guys, in my opinion its one of the only 2 jaguars i would ever own, and they can be had for around 12,000 or less depending on mileage. other would be the big body xjr100 sedan with the bbs wheel package steering wheel was really worn and cracked, treating it with a good protectant made it look way better but still not new. no amount of scrubbing would have made it better.

Those cars are beautiful...I used to pass one just like that going the opposite direction when I was driving to work sometimes, back in the late '90's...with a hot blonde driving it!
