SpeedFreak Detailed: Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black Series

Here's a quick detail from today at Designo Motoring in Sterling, VA. I was called in to do a quick micro polish just to punch up the gloss and minimize defects. Luckily Aston/Jaguar paint is pretty soft so I was able to get some pretty decent correction as well. The car has been detailed previously, and had the dealer installed holograms and buffer trails, coupled with the usual wash induced swirling. In full sun it was easily visible, as evident by the before shots. Note the buffer trails in the driver's side door. I wish I had a larger budget to work with, as this beautiful car would be a standout with a proper multi stage correction. Abe also wanted to have the leather on the interior cleaned and conditioned as well. The inside of this thing is literally ALL leather, I'm not exaggerating when I say I think the only surfaces NOT swathed in fine leather are made of glass or billet aluminum. Even the female end of the seat belts are wrapped in leather, something I've never seen before.:buttrock

I was semi pressed for time as I didn't get started until close to 3pm, so no during or 50/50 shots this time.

    Products used:

    • CG Citrus Wash
    • Meguiar's APC
    • Griot's HD wheel cleaner
    • Pinnacle Speed Clay
    • DoDo Juice Born Slippery clay lube
    • Menzerna PO85RD on LC CCS Grey pad via FLEX 3401
    • HD Poxy
    • Wolfgang Black Diamond tire gel
    • Wolfgang Leather Care Cleaner
    • Wolfgang Concours Series Leather Conditioner
    • Stoner Invisible Glass

Here are some various before shots, note the buffer trails in the door

And some interior shots. Yes I know the floormats are still dirty, but I was instructed just to hit the leather.

Nice work on a rare Aston. The paint looks much better after you got done.

Looks good. It will never make sense to me how someone who can afford a car like that, won't take the time or put the money into it to get it fully detailed correctly.

Delayed gratification? The customer can enjoy the car and have fun and not worry about the car too much. And the car will look great (at least for now). When playtime simmers down, the customer can bring the car back and either get a full correction and enjoy it looking even better still, or they can get another micro polish and wax so they can assess what kind of toll their level of use is taking. If it stands up to their care and handling, they can keep having fun, knowing the car isn't getting trashed. If it doesn't, then they can get a full correction and know that they need to be more careful...certainly less fun there. Just taking a guess here. I'm also guessing that the mats weren't to be cleaned because new mats are going to go in the car at some point.

Especially considering how little time was put into the car (3 hours?) it really looks great. That's a totally hot car. When I show the pics to my wife, I bet the first two words out of her mouth are, "I want."

I'm not saying the OP didn't do a good job. With the short time it looks like he made the best of it, and the vehicle looks great....inside. I highly doubt that 85rd did a ton for correcting those swirls shown in the before sunshots. My point is I don't understand how someone would pay that much for a car and probably not even give a second thought to the tons of maintenance costs in keeping it running, but then neglect the finish. Just my opinion.
