SpeedFreak Detailed: '08 E60 M5, 4yr old MESS
This car had it all. Acid rain etchings, swirl marks, RIDS, overspray, sanding marks, pigtails you name it. For a car that is barely 4 years old, it was pretty bad. The car was just bought by David, owner of Pro Shield out of Sterling, Va who is a personal friend of mine. The correction was done at Designo Motoring's shop, also in Sterling. I set aside the entire weekend for this job, and it took up every minute of it.
The hood had been resprayed and what a pathetic job.:rolleyes It was sprayed while on the car, tape lines were clearly visible, they shot the clear OVER top of the windshield wiper fluid jets, and the rear portion was void all together of clear. I didn't spend too much time here as he's going to have it repainted before he wraps it in Venture Shield. Also, the rocker panels, and sides of the rear bumper cover were rough to the touch, and full of overspray. Unfortunately my camera was acting up, so I didn't get many before shots. Because of the multitude of non factory paint, a good deal of experimenting with different pad/polish combos was necessary.

Wow amazing job Brian! The paint looks very glossy.
You did all those steps on the entire car? How long did the whole process take you?

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I probably didn't explain very thoroughly. Not all of those steps were used over the entire car. The factory paint was very hard, and received the M105/PFW combo for defect removal. The areas that had been resprayed were much softer and didn't require me to get nearly as aggressive. Unfortunately, what had been resprayed did not appear to have been done all at the same time, so I had to experiment and get creative until I found what worked best. That's where all those other. Combos came in.
All total I spent probably 20 hours on the correction. I didn't worry too much about wheels, trim, minute details like I normally do, as the owner wanted me to concentrate on the paint itself.
