I just completed my first detail of my 550I and wanted get some feedback. When I was inspecting my results with a Brinkman Swirl light, I still noticed some very fine scratches in a couple of areas. I tried to stay very true to all the techniques Mike teaches, but I wasn't able to get out those very fine scratches. I don't know if it was because of the products, my technique, or just a by-product of white paint. (I wasn't able to capture some of those fine scratches with the camera)
My plan and products are as follows:
Clean wheels with Griot's Wheel Cleaner and Daytona Speed Brush
Clean tires with Griot's Rubber Cleaner
Pre wash with Foam master gun and DP Auto Extreme Foam Formula
Wash with Griot's soap ( 2 wash mits and Grit Guard bucket)
After thorough rinse spray on Griot's Paint Prep and rinse again
Blow dry
Clay entire car with Griot's Paint cleaning clay and Speed Shine
Using GG6 ROP (with 5" backing plate) Polish with Griot's Machine Polish 2 and LC 5" Orange pad
Clean off polish residue with Griots Pre wax Cleanser
Using GG6 ROP with 6" backing plate) Polish with Griot's Machine Polish 3 and Griot's Orange pad
Clean off polish residue with Griot's Pre wax Cleanser
Using GG6 ROP with 6" backing plate) Wax with Griot's Best of Show and Griot's Red pad
Apply Wolfgang Trim sealant to all black trim
I forgot to take the before pictures, but below are some shots of the final results.
