After many reschedules and lots of help from members here I can finally put up pics of my first vette detail. The owner has had the car for 3 years and did not know much about proper care so after looking at the car I thought 90-95% correction was as far as we should go as there were some pretty deep scratches that I did not feel comfortable removing. So here is my process and pics. I have a cheap camera so it was very difficult to capture all the defects but here we go
Process:
Wash with dawn to start the stripping process
clay with mothers clay using their detail spray as lube
dry with waffle weave
degrease engine using total cycle wash and various brushes and wash with dawn
rinse and dry engine
treat engine with CD-2
Polish
Using Griots garage V2 and 5.5 surbuff pads the first polish stage used Megs Ultimate Compound
Second polishing stage was 5.5 green pads using Megs D-151 (the clear was so hard I did not get the results I was looking for with 205 so I tried D-151 and BINGO)
Sealed with Opti-seal
Topped with Opt. Spray Wax
Pics:
Paint before can see some major defects but sorry camera
Lexan Top before someone tried to wet sand it but.....
Paint after two stage polishing, good clarity IMO
You can see the metallics here in the paint
After Optiseal
Complete
The owner said he had always thought the car was just Navy Blue, had never seen the Metallics in the paint before so needless to say he left happy.
Thanks for looking
