    The Escape's "Season Finale" detail

Refiningthe “Damp towel / Dry towel” removal method for Turtle Wax/To TheMax Wax.

I just finished the final detail of the season on my wife's Escape.Took me three days to get everything: Interior/Wash/Wax. Today was“waxing day,” and I decided to use the TW / Max Wax as my sealant. This time instead of applying it by hand, I used my polisher to see if there was a big difference. Using the polisher WAS faster and easier, and the “wax” went on a lot thinner and I actually used LESS than hand applying it. There were still a few areas I had to do by hand though, because the polisher just wouldn't reach them.

I coated the entire car (including the exterior windows) and since today was on the cooler side, I let it “set up” for around an hour. When it was time for the wax to be removed, I got the towels ready and started the removal on the hood. On the first section, I wiped it with the damp towel, then started buffing it with the dry one. I noticed I was getting some streaking. So I went back over the section again with the damp towel, this time making sure all of the'residue' was broken up and removed before the dry buff. The results were perfect. Thinking I might be onto something, on the next section I made sure all of the wax was removed before dry buffing the area and I got the same perfect results.

I finished the car this way, and the end result was great. Seems to be that it's during the damp towel wipe is when you WANT to remove the cured wax and the dry buff is simply a 'Finishing Touch' to make sure the damp towel doesn't leave any water marks.
