1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Megs #7 rub down

Was off work this week so I decided to try out the #7 method on my fathers '69 Grand Prix. A little history, he has owned around a dozen Grand Prix's over the years but this one is special. This one is a one owner car, the original owner was a little OCD keeping ever record he ever had from the car. now this is car is basically a twin to the one my father owner in high school so it meant a lot to be able to get the paint as restored as possible. I personally think it turned out great and it is had to show in pictures.

    Process and materials

    Meguiar's #7 - 3 coats soaking about 12 hours each

Flex 3401 with LCC pink pads with Blackfire One Step

    Collinite 845 - 2 coats

    Before

    After

I love all GPs! I grew up being a Pontiac guy.

This body style is actually 69-72. The 68s were the previous body style and had a unique center-peak on the rear of the deck lid.

That's correct, my bad1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Megs #7 rub down The 69 and 70 had quad headlights and the 71 and 72 has singles. IIRC Billy Bats rode around in the trunk of a 68 GP1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Megs #7 rub down

That's correct, it's funny because the 68 was such a bomb they almost cancelled the GP.

If I were to ever restore a GP, a '68 would be at the top of my list for candidates. The rear end of the '68s is so cool and unique.

    Actually a hybrid 67/68 would be ideal. 67 front & 68 rear.

I'm new to the forum but have done my own detailing forever. What does the #7 soaking overnight do?
I assume because it's single stage paint?

Helps to restore the oils back into the paint, the terry towels will both pull off some of the old dead paint but also push the oils into the paint. Word of caution. It is alot of work and pretty physical but the results are worth it, the paint is only original once.
