Everybody's got a favorite car that they wish they had kept, the '69 GP SJ I owned (2nd car ever) is one of those for me. Those cars were pretty quick for their size, but then again the optional 428 was something like 375HP. My favorite part of the car though was the wrap around driver's portion of the dash ... the influence of the "space race" on American design was huge at the time.
Everybody thinks of DeLorean as the guy behind the GTO, but his biggest success was the "G-Body Special" platform that premiered in '69 with the Cutlass, Grand Prix, and Monte Carlo. That platform set GM sales figures records that will never be surpassed ... more than a million units in some years.
