    Dr. Colorchip on Chevy Cruze

This was my offering to the detail gods yesterday - a 2015 Chevy Cruze. It was hammered from road salt and everything else. It got a hand wash, chemical decon, clay, and Blackfire One Step using Buff and Shine pads and my C-Beast. Dr. Colorchip was on hand to cure the front end road rash. Love this job.

    Very nice work!

Do you use the "shoe polish" method for using Dr Colorchip to fill in the chipped paint? Meaning, you spread it out all over the surface and then wipe off? Your touch up came out well.

    Good job Mike.

Very professional and way to get after the little things.

Yes. In this instance, and the last hood I touched up, I used the shoe polish method (I call it the squeegee method). Drop a few drops of the paint and squeegee/smooth it across an entire area and repeat until finished. I prefer the clear, soft, flexible squeegee when doing so. Then Sealact to remove and wipe down with a MF towel.

Thanks for the info. I've never done road rash touch up but now I think I'm ready. I like the squeegee idea. I'm assuming Dr Colorchip has complete kits, including the squeegee, for a small DIY job?

Yes. They have a number of different kits including the "squirt 'n squeegee" and "squirt 'n squeegee plus". I like the small green squeegee for chips that are spread out. Follow them on Facebook as they frequently do sales.

    Looks great!

I'd like to try the Dr. Colorchip method one day. I have my own method for doing isolated chips that provides a nearly undetectable repair using standard automotive paints, but it's not practical for multiples or road rash like your example.

Likewise. I have touched up a number of spots and applied a clear over to make the blemish invisible, but it's not practical. Dr. Colorchip is a wonderful and easy method that can be a high profit item.

I think Colorchip works especially well with any white vehicles.
