My 2020 work summed-up in a single post

My 2020 work summed-up in a single post
2020 has been an interesting year for most of us. Detailing has been a side-hustle for me, and working from home has allowed me to dedicate a few more hour to detailing and my family which has been nice. I’ve been fortunate enough to see an increase in the number of vehicles I’ve serviced this year but I’ve been a little lax in posting my work here, so I’ll be dumping everything I’ve done thus-far in this post. Hopefully it’s not too much in a single post.

    Berkshire Pontoon Boat
This is my in-laws pontoon. At the start of the season they asked me to detail it and prep it for summer. I spent close to 10 hours polishing the pontoons using wool and a rotary. Needless to say, my wife made me change in the garage before she would allow me to enter the house. Then I was promptly escorted to the shower…

Ford F350 – Two stage polish and Ceramic Coating
This is my brothers work truck that he uses daily for estimates and at the job-site. He wanted to protect the paint since he intends on keeping this truck for a few years so he settled on a Ceramic coating. I used GTechniq CSL topped with C2V3. My experience has been that EXO tends to scratch easier than CSL. Where this is a work truck, I would rather have the protection from CSL over the water beading of EXO (although it would have looked amazing on black).

    Paint before/after polishing:

    Final Product:

    [B]Lexus IS 350 F-Sport[/B/
This lexas was coated in the fall with GTechniq CSL + EXO and the owner was looking to have the 6 month maintenance done to it to keep the water beading.

    Toyota Sienna
This Sienna is the primary family vehicle and needed a little TLC. The owners have a friend who owns a detail shop about 50 miles away, but coordinating a time to have it detailed being that far away has always been a challenge. When the vehicle was detailed, it was only an interior service so the exterior has never has a full detail. The paint was polished with HD Speed to give it a little extra pop.

2017 Volve XC90 – Full Correction and Ceramic Coating
This XC90 had some dealer installed wet sanding marks and minor scratches. The customer wanted interior/exterior detail with a full correction and paint coating.

XC60 – Full correction and Coating
This was a referral from the owners of the XC90. The XC60 had some spots of tar in the door jambs that needed to be removed. All painted surfaces were polished using 3D One and Buff & Shine Urofiber pads and then coating with GTechniq CSL + EXO.

    Toyota Corolla Heavy Sap Removal
The owner of this Corolla had recently purchased a new vehicle and was looking to get this cleaned for private sale. There are a few large Pine trees over parts of their driveway where this car would be parked from time to time. The owners attempted to remove the sap on their own, but had introduced some minor scratches in the process.
All sap spots were removed using Stoner’s Tarminator. The original agreement was to remove the sap spot and a full interior/exterior detail, but I couldn’t send the vehicle out with the scratches as they were. Some quick work with a rotary and wool pad followed by urofiber and 3D one on a DA took care of the scratches.
The interior was deep cleaned using Meguiars APC, various brushes, and a steam cleaner.

    Finished:

Dodge Ram 2500 – Correction and Coating
This 2500 was in for a full detail and ceramic coating.

    2013 BMW M3 – Prewinter detail
This is one of my co-workers vehicles which he purchased earlier this year. He wanted to car cleaned and prepped because he plans on trying his hand at vinyl wrap over the winter and didn’t want any protection. I suggested a spray wax as an easy LSP that can be removed when he’s ready to start that project.
We did take the wheels off to coat them using Gtechniq C5, unfortunately there are not photos, but I did start recording the process and posted a video to youtube. This was my first attempt at recording the process which I will hopefully improve in the future.

2014 VW Jetta – Presale detail
The owner was posting this vehicle for sale and wanted it cleaned up. There were some minor scratches and paint transfer that the client wanted me to focus on. I had never pulled the floor mats, so I didn’t realize what was lurking beneath…I should have known.
The carpets were an absolute nightmare to clean. I tried everything I could think of with the tools I had available; everything including an air gun, steam cleaner and extractor. I ultimately settled on using the air gun to blast most of the dirt from the carpets and then APC and steam to clean the fibers. There were spots by the seat tracks that did not clean well, which I wasn’t happy with but lacked the tools needed to pull the seats.
I did the best I could with getting the rocksalt stains from the drivers carpet, but it was not perfect.

Thanks for sharing, I’m sorry what interior products you use?

How long does each vehicle take average?
