Customer asks me what I can do for this paint...

    Guys

A customer is wondering what can be done about this. He bought this truck in this condition, and told me the bed had been repainted in the past.

He came to me after another detailer wet sanded it and was not able to repair the problem. I told him my gut is telling me this is a defect in the actual paint job.

What are your initial thoughts on these pictures?

    Run away.

If wet sanding didn't touch that, then there is nothing you can do for him, Eric.

Try using a clay bar and lube. It worked for me with some similar stains and bird droppings.

How would a clay bar remove that if wet sanding did not?

Hard to tell without seeing it in person. At the very least I would not touch it without measuring.

Could be something that runs deep into the clear but again would need to see it in person.

Take a microfiber and some compound and by hand scrub at a small section as in the size of a quarter and see if you can make even the slightest bit of difference.

I read it fine. Where the light is focused in the picture does not look sanded to me and there is no way of knowing how aggressive the previous detailer went so my recommendation was to do his own analysis as if no one has touched it to come up with his own conclusion.

I have heard and seen lots of previous detailer stories and imo it's best to come to your own conclusion as opposed to pickup where the previous detailer supposedly left off.

The approach to solution should be the same as if the customer hadn't said anything. Do your own testing.
