    F-150 Gets Revitalized & Coated

So a good friend of mine from a local racing group has a beautiful 2016 F-150 that he's had for 4 years and just under 35k miles and it was time for it to have a refreshing. It's his "baby" and one of the few trucks with this much real estate that I've seen free of door dings. Kudo's to his care and staying away from shopping carts. Sitting outside under big oak trees takes its tole on the vehicle and the sun really beats down on the black trim turning it grey over time too. His wasn't too bad but faded enough that a coating alone wouldn't restore it.

Plans were to give it good cleanup inside and out. Outside we looked at a my Basic Clean and Protect to help keep costs down and instead apply the savings to help address the interior where kids take their toll and also leave enough to apply a 1 year ceramic coating. Part of the exterior was to address the fading trim by restoring it all around and to do the same for the ever dreaded Weather-Tech Floor mats that never seem to clean up perfectly. They just remain dull and with their texture dirt really gets embedded deep into the grain.

On top of the exterior we also went with a good wipe down and vacuum and addressed the dirty the mats too. Results came out pretty well as Ford has some good quality paint in terms of responding to correction. I leaned into for Chris who I've known since well before our group was formed and nailed upwards of 95-100% correction for him.

Huge shout out to him for coming in a day early to allow me the opportunity to work on his baby and the bonus of bringing some great tasting home brew IPA!

    Enough chatting.....onto the pics!

    The below involved the following:

    • Wash and stripped with APC to remove all grime
    • Adam's Iron Remover followed by a medium grade Nano-Mitt
    • Polished with both a Flex 3401 and newer XCE using Orange Hybrid Force and Orange Flat Pads
    • Polish was GYEON Primer followed up with two layers of GYEON Can-Coat 1 hour apart
    • Trim restored with Solution Finish
    • Tires dressed with Meg's HyperDressing
    • WETS for the sealing up of of the bed cover

Chris lives where mud is unavoidable. The tires here were stained with dirt.

Mats cleaned up and restored great! The mud here is stained and AFTER a good power washing remained visible

    Mud and debris gone!

    We gotta have perfected B-Pillars

Brutal Sun takes its toll on plastic trim and tonneau covers and bumpers but I can address that too

Nice work. What did you use to get the shine back on the Weathertechs or did you just clean them? They have a nice sheen to them.

I like the Michelin energy savers. That probably saves him 1-2 mpg at highway speeds.

    Awesome work..!

Question- What did you do or how did you get those Weather Tech liners so clean? I can never, ever get all that embedded dirt out!

Re: F-150 Gets Revitalized & Coated

Thanks everyone. WeatherTechs are a real pain. My secret is to soak them with wet towels flooded with believe it or not a mix of driveway cleaner concentrate that I spray with the foaming soap tip of my pressure washer. Otherwise they tend to dry too quickly.

I let them dwell during my wash of the vehicle. It cuts oils, grease, everything and is safe on the matts.

When done I power wash them clean with ease. The color and sheen come from a 3 part mix of solution finish, megs hyper dressing and water I have in a 32oz spray bottle.

End result is zero slickness but a nice sheen and a deep rich color.

    Great work!!

Some people ask me: "Why take the time to keep that thing all shiny? It's just a truck."
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
