Beautiful 911 in Gentian Blue Metallic get's coated

So a good friend and member of law enforcement (amazing car guys), brought me a referral who just treated himself to a gorgeous brand new 2020 Carerra S for a full polish and ceramic coating project as he sets into retirement after 31 years of service.

Brought to me with only 153 miles on the ODO the owner has already tinted the windows and recognized that even a $130K vehicle comes with slight scratches from the lot attendant likely "prepping it" for delivery. They also swirled out the black on the roof either side of the sunroof. Just like B-Pillars though, they polish out amazingly well. None of that's a problem and easily fixed.

The color of this bad-boy is what is so striking. A beautiful deep but not dark blue metallic with a hint of a pearl in it. Once completely polished and coated the color darkened up a shade and now really pops!

Here he went with my New Car Polish & Protect package and added in a a Dual Layer Cquartz coating on the paint, GYEON Q2 Trim & Q2 RIM for the Wheels. I rounded this off with a nice glass coating. No more having to worry about dressing the plastic trim up front and around back as it will stay as it's shown here, nice and dark with a great satin finish. When it does see rain, the glass will shed water like a duck too.

Polished using both a Flex XCE Supa Beast and the original 3401 BEAST both combined with Hybrid Force White Polishing Pads and CarPro Essence.

    Onto the Pics!

The front and rear trim will stay this nice making it so much easier to clean

I love this color. Really growing on me

Wheels were polished and coated as well. I didn't do a wheel-off but was able to get into the barrels with ease.

100% correction across the board. Perfect!

How long does Q2Trim last? How does WETS compare to it?

As far as the brake components on that vehicle, are they sensitive to any wheel cleaners?

Q2Trim will eat WETS for lunch as far as longevity goes. I actually like the Gtechniq offering, C4. Some vendors offer it in small 15ml bottles which comes in handy, something Gtecniq gets points for with many similar products in their line. I apply as needed; for Summer cars, maybe once a year, year round drivers likely the same but they fade in the Winter so I dont much care.

Mostly though if I'm recoating one of our cars, I'll spring for a bottle if Kami ISM 1.0 just for trim, cowls, vents, wiper arms and such. Kinda a pricey proposition but that stuff lasts multi-years on Sumner cars so worth it to me in those circumstances.

Can't comment on wheel cleaners as I dont use 'em once wheels are coated.

Back to Gentian Blue, dream would be a new GT4 in that color but I think I'm past the point of being willing to maintain dark colored paint Beautiful 911 in Gentian Blue Metallic get's coated

My wifes car is 2.5 years and Q2 trim looks like day one. No issues on these brakes. Just be careful if you work on ceramic brakes.

Any particular vehicles known to have ceramic brakes?

Porsches w yellow brake calipers (usually denoting PCCB option) is one I know of. Although I'd guess rge way Porsche is willing to do nearly anything if you pay enough yellow calipers are likely not constant w PCCB.

I guess GM offered Carbon Ceramic rotors on a few of the top level Vettes and Camaros in recent times; ZL1, ZR1's and I'd guess more than a few exotics.

Obscenely expensive option, think it's around $13k from Porsche (who is soon moving to new hi end brake tech I believe) but supposed to be very little brake dust and in normal usage, last a lifetime.

Should you somehow goon up a rotor though, the cost af a set of replacements is apparently more than a little depressing.
