    Shelby GT350: Light Ceramic Coating

    2017 Shelby GT350
    3,350 miles

Hello. I opted out of a full ceramic treatment to my garage queen, and decided on a 25% siO2 application. It’s from a brand not sold on AG, but is pretty much like CarPro products.

    -Full strip wash
    -P21s cleaner polish treatment
-used an siO2 primer polish with a 15mm DA using Lake Country 5” pads
-Also used a Griot’s Garage 3” DA bought from Auto Geek (I like it!).
-Laid down a coat of the siO2 oil-based coating

I’m not finished. And between the primer polishing and coating, I left a couple days of cure time (just because).
I also did not do a full paint correction.

Experimenting. I think the cleaner polish and primer polish could have been redundant steps. The finish is not perfect, but I literally need to take an LED pen and hover over the car to see the love marks and blemishes. Full paint correction will be way down the road.

    Sneak preview:

    Still to do:
    -5% siO2 topper coat
    -Polish glass
-do the door jams, trunk area and engine bay
    -clean and coat wheels
    -change the oil!

And when I say it is a garage queen, it’s not much by choice but more my job and lifestyle. I’ve never been a huge Mustang fan, but when I heard the exhaust on this car… That did it for me.
Oh, and the proverbial mid-life crisis purchase.

    Looks great!

I just detailed this same car, same color scheme a few weeks ago. Ford really did it right with the design and style. A real tribute to the Shelby name.

    Thanks for sharing.

I think this body style Mustang has got one of the best taillight/bumper designs. Also, a beautiful profile.

The only car I’ve ever rented in my life was a 2016 Mustang for Detail Fest 2016

Even that V6 was fun to drive.

    I’m calling it finished.
Did not coat the wheels or glass (yet).

I really love how they made the headlight assemblies look like actual cobra eyes.

    That designer needs a raise.
