Re: Copper Ford F-150 Platinum Edition
Really nice job and easy write-up on the process.
Question: How many times did you clean and rinse each tire before you applied the tire coating?
That is unusual color on your truck, a nice change from some of the other lighter colored options!

I used the Meguiar's Non Acid Wheel and Tire cleaner to clean the wheels and tires.
I also used brand x wheel soap and my wheel brush to clean the tires the second time after I machine scrubbed the tires.
In the future I will probably machine scrub the tires 3 times. I am however confident that the tires were very clean.
I'd say I rinsed the tires a few times throughout the whole wash process. Its been a few days but I can say with confidence that I always rinse everything very well, and if I'm not sure I rinse again.
Maybe 3-4 times.
Also I find rinsing to be fun, so I'd imagine that helps me to be very thorough.
Check out this awesome live training class Mike and Yancy did. I wish I had as many Guzzlers as they use in the video. I love those towels.

I cleaned the tires twice. They are brand new. In my opinion that's the beauty of applying a tire coating to brand new tires like Mike P teaches. You don't have to work hard at all to get them clean. Especially if you use a Rotary and DA scrub brush.
Check out this article:

I wet the wheel, tire, and surrounding areas first to create an aqua shield for any of the cleaner that may sling off during the machine scrubbing process.
After I machine scrubbed the tire, I then quickly rinsed off the surrounding area followed by the tire with my sprayer on shower setting. Then I switched the nozzle to jet mode and blasted the tire good.
After that I cleaned the wheel, then tire again as mentioned before, and then applied the 303 Touchless Sealant to the wheel.
I also believe I quickly blew excess water off the wheel and tire with the MetroVac Air Force Express,
I then washed the truck, dried it, and applied the coating.
It's my friends truck. He was totally blown away as was I!
Thank you so much. I love that copper color as well!

I am now machine scrubbing the tires at least 7 times before applying the tire coating.
I am using the TUF SHINE tire cleaner now. It works much better. Also I've been using your tip about rinsing the Speedmaster Applicators out and I've been getting lots of applications out of them.
Thank you so much and I just want to know that I didn't forget about your amazing tip!!!!

What did you use, if anything, on the black plastic trim pieces....like the step pads on the back bumper, or the black plastic that is part of the front bumper?

I would have used 303 Aerospace or Automotive Protectant if I used anything, but I can't recall if I dressed up the trim and plastics on this job.
I might have.

I just wanted to give you an update.
I am now machine scrubbing the tires 6 times with the Tuf Shine tire cleaner and one time with the PBL Gel tire cleaner before I apply a tire coating this way they are really clean.

I find your lack of detailed memory unacceptable, Jake. TWO demerits!
