I'm glad you posted this, I see too many people over think cleaning wheels and tires...I almost get a laugh out of it....
    I'm using the latest.....Roi990ji2-99 cleaner....best stuff ever.....LOL

Dawn dish soap and a brush goes a long way if you are willing to try.....

To each their own! dawn is best kept under the kitchen sink imo lol.

Products have changed and gotten better since the old days. I dont rush out to buy the latest and greatest. I keep to what i know and like.

But there are many great products out there that do what they say and are specific to certain areas of a vehicle. As there are just as many, if not more products that are snake oil.

Im not one of them but thanks to those who go out and buy the latest and greatest or not so greatest, then come on here and give there reviews. Saves many of us the trouble of doing it.

Find a product you like...use it and use it often! Wheel Coatings - Worth it?

    Mr Tommy
These are freshly ceramic coated matte black wheels. The coating adds the very mildest of sheen, as mentioned it deepens the finish rather than shining.

Agreed. Unless they are very dirty, I just use the soap in my foam cannon to clean wheels.

Re: Wheel Coatings - Worth it?

Since this popped up, I thought I would ask a question.

I have about 3/4 of a 10ml bottle of Cquartz SiC left and I don't have any other use for it and don't want it to go to waste. Someone mentioned using it on wheels.

I just pulled my summer wheels off my car and thought it would be a good time to coat them.

I know it's more of a personal choice, but looking for feedback. Would it be worth polishing the wheels before coating?

From a distance, they look fine, but up close with direct light, they show lots of scratches on the black. The other part is that I don't have anything for polishing the small areas, so it would either be done by hand, or I'd have to pick something up. Maybe it's an excuse to get a Dremel?

Try polishing a section by hand. It will remove some of those defects and gloss them up.

Have you used it? I have one in red and it's been sitting on my shelf for over a year unopened?

I would, now that the wheels are off the car and clean. Worse case scenario just put them away uncoated.
