Re: Cleaned Up My 67 Camaro

Nice Camaro ! Based on the backup lights beneath the rear bumper, the hidden headlights, grille, and the chrome wheel well and lower body moldings, that's an RS/SS, the creme de la creme ! Combine those option packages with the low production number for convertibles and you have a fairly rare beast. What happened to its original 350 engine ?

Thanks! Wish I knew where the original engine were. I got the car about two years ago, and original motor was already long gone. At least per the trim tag in the engine bay, it was originally a 396. I actually managed to find locally a 396 block from a very similar 67 Camaro, but the cost of rebuilding it and swapping it in didn't seem worth it.

It would be interesting to decode your VIN number. RS/SS+convertible+396 = even lower production numbers.

    Really nice. :dblthumb:

The first generation Camaros are one of my all time favorite muscle card - especially when there sporting a Big Block Chevy!

    Thanks for sharing.

I have a 1967 Camaro detail coming up in a few weeks.

Yep, I went through all the VIN and engine codes when I bought the car. Happy to share, feel free to send me a PM if you're interested.

Amazing looking Camaro you got HAMBO!

And with the specs on it is awesome and rare. The condition looks flawless on it. Do you know the history behind it if it's much restored and such?

Thanks for shareing your car and it's beutieful!

    / Tony

68 Sounds like it was a nice ride!
Outwardly, there's not much visual difference between the 396-427-454. Maybe the Harmonic Balancer might be caught by a keen eye is about it until looking at the block numbers.

Any of course can be dressed with the stock Valve Covers, Air Cleaner, etc.

Mine had the tic tock tach, floor console, black Houndstooth interior, front-rear spoilers. 4.11 rear axle, 4sp.

My deceased friend's wife in Wisconsin still has the car, her son wants it badly. He already has a '69 Z-28 same color, Lemans Blue, but it needs a resto.

Thanks! I believe the prior owner restored it about 6-7 years ago. I would say the restoration was good, but not meticulous. Thankfully I haven’t had any real issues with it, but did clean up / improve a few minor things. It’s a two stage paint, and the paint was definitely swirled up when I got it. Had it corrected shortly after getting it, then polished w/ coating last year. I used some Essence Plus on it a few weeks ago as well for a little extra pop.
