    2019 Porsche GT3 Touring

    2019 Porsche GT3 Touring
    130 miles.
    Black/black interior
    4.0 flat six. 500HP/339TQ
    9,000rpm redline!
    6 speed manual
    0-60: 3.2 sec/top speed 198mph

Client of mine just picked this up. Nicely spec’d car. Sounds great!
The finish was previously butchered by someone with a rotary and no knowledge what so ever on how to use it.
Holograms everywhere. 4-5 areas of SUPER thin paint (1.5 mils) and almost at the beginning stages of burn through. These areas showed up as ‘light spots’ in the shape of a buffing pad on different areas of the vehicle. Too long dwell time on these areas caused this damage.
I was fortunate enough to be able to ever so carefully correct these areas.

    The ‘details’:
    Adam’s car shampoo.
    Medium clay mitt.
    Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner.
McKee’s 37 Hydro Blue to seal the wheels/calipers.
    Master Blaster to dry.
    DeFelsko PTG.
    Scangrip lighting.
    Flex XFE.
    Misc. foam pads.
    Griot’s Correcting and Perfecting creams.
    Optimum Panel wipe.
    22ple activate primer.
    22ple Mistico Elemento Forte.
    SCG Pro tire dressing.
    Auto Finesse glass cleaner.
    CarPro glass towels.
    Metro vacuum.
    McKee’s 37 quick interior detailer.

    Thank you for looking!

As always, beautiful work! How did you correct those extra thin spots?

I will be doing an Audi with super thin paint after a "detailer " wet sanded the whole car and destroyed the paint with a rotary afterwards. Wasnt sure how to correct the car.

Great job Scott. I’m always blown away by your work. I’m kind oh beside myself on how much damage has been done to a virtually brand new car. I see you use the XFE, since I got mine, I pretty much don’t use anything else. Is that your go to polisher as well?

Very slowly and carefully. Went really least aggressive method first...let it cool, measured, corrected some more. I was using just some light polishing pads and different polishes/compounds to see what worked. Each spot took some time, but I was pleased with the slow progress and continued until I received the results I wanted.

Hey thank you Billy! I use a lot of machines, don't really have a go to. I like this machine, light weight, easy to use and gives the results we all are looking for!

(yep, literally a tick over 100 miles on it...and it was practically almost needing a repaint!)

Nice save! He should really consider PPF on at least all those areas that are super thin as they likely can’t be corrected again.

As good as you can get on a black Porsche. Excellent work as always.

So, what did the conversation with the owner sound like? What did you inform him of regarding the extra thin areas, and what is the owners reaction/plan for them? I'd cry for a week straight if that were my car.

    BSoars, we discussed this.

JD: He was not happy. He was however, happier that I could correct those areas and make them look like they never happened. He also asked what it meant for the future, as he plans on keeping this for a long time.

He keeps and maintains his vehicles extremely well, so I know they will receive the proper maintenance when necessary. We also discussed PPF, but not in the plan as of now.

Came out looking great. It came to the right guy to save this thin paint.
