Another Tesla Model 3 "Black Beauty"

This vehicle is from a repeat customer who had his FX35 brought back last summer only this time he wanted me to take his New Model 3 and do what even Tesla doesn't do from the factory and that's make it "Glow" with my New Car Polish & Protect. Having done his Infiniti prior he wanted to same coatings and treatment. This Tesla is wearing 2 layers of CarPro Cquartz and topped with CarPro Gliss. Along the way I also also Ceramic Coated the glass including the entire roof, the wheels and of course the little bit of trim that is on it so that he doesn't have to mess with it going forward.

Most new vehicles if left to dealers to prep for delivery get marred up and this one was no exception.

That's okay as the prep work under this package makes short-order of those swirls and marring.

One thing I see a lot on the various detailing forums or product reviews is around frustration when it comes to glass coatings. Just like with paint coatings it's all in the prep work. With glass, it's critical that the windows be entirely stripped and down to virgin glass. You'll see this when water actually clings to the glass and can in turn be cut right through with a water blade. That same principle of water bonding to it is what a coating will now do.

Overall the car turned out fantastic and is dripping wet with deep black paint

Upon pick up he took me for a spin to show off the power of the Dual Motor this thing has. The best part is definitely the instant torque and push back in your seat. Doesn't lesson until after 100mph. It's odd not feeling it shift gears.

From there we stopped off and grabbed a couple shots with a bit of a softer background.

    Process:

    • Wash and stripping of any sealant and tire dressing
    • Iron X
    • Nano Mitt Medium Fine Grade
    • Rupes Mille with Yellow Rupes Mille Pads
    • CarPro Essence Polish/Sealant
    • Adams Fine glass polish on Adams glass polishing pad
    • CarPro Cquartz UK 3.0 Topped with Gliss v2
    • GYEON's Q2 RIM for the wheels
    • GYEON's Q2 TRIM for the slight bit of trim up front and out back
    • McKees 37 glass coating
    • Meg's Hyperdressing for tires

Awesome write up and pictures! And also an awesome work!

Will absolutely try to get the windows to cling the water before I do the glass coating. I have planned to do that with Carpro CeriGlass and their glass polishing pads that I have on hand. Even if only used RainX type of sealants before. I have noticed that the results has been different. And the prep work is probebly the problem. Maybe one of my products has been a problem with since after the first application of it. I didn't put the seal on again and just let the spray handle be on it. Which has been mentioned could be cureing the product in the bottle and let the carriers evaporate too. It was like a whole other product the second time I used it. But have gotten a glass coating to apply on my car and aquapel to apply on the other car I maintain.

What polisher do you use with to polishing the glass?
Since it's my goal to just deep clean the glass I have the 75mm Rayon glass polishing pads and will use them on the mini polisher I have. Do you think that's enough? Only have a 21mm longthrow polisher also and maybe can loan a rotary polisher if needed. The extra time it will take with the mini polisher is no problem for me. It's just if it's don't beeing able to get to maintain the pad rotation I would consider to get the 125mm Rayon glass polishing pads. As I have a 125mm backing plate to the rotary polisher if needed.

Thanks a lot for shareing your method of preping the glass!

    / Tony

How’s the Mille and yellow pads? Is it smooth or does it try to “walk away”

    That paint came out flawless!

Yellow mille pads on the polisher are smooth as silk. It doesnt walk with their thinner mille pads.
