Funny, I got a 2016 WRX Sti to fit the 1 practical car niche as well rather than have 2 an MR2 and an Escape.
It worked and was a lot of fun. I sold it last year for the same reason Budgetplan did, it was a lot of work, harsh, peaky and not quite as large as I wanted with 2 kids. I sold it for a 2018 Subaru Forester XT, same turbo engine as the WRX, but in SUV with an auto. its fun, a bit laggy, a lot more comfortable and practical.

I hear you on wanting a vehicle with more space for the kids...it's so nice not having to worry about feet on the back of my seats in my F-150
