Coating my 6 year old F-150...HOLY GLOSS!!

Throwback to this past summer when I fully detailed, corrected, and ceramic coated my F-150.

The truck looked better than brand new and literally was turning heads everywhere!!

    Nice video...

Interesting DooWop music for the background.

If you haven't already, remove the handle from the Griot's polisher. Then just place your hand on the rubber grip on the head of the polisher.

Here's the deal and of course something I teach in all my classes,

When it comes to handles, the further away your hand grip is away from the tool the more you'll tax your forearm muscles.

Plus it's easier for most people to control all aspects of the tool with their hand on the head of it. I have 20 of these polishers in the garage for our classes here and not a single unit has the handle.

As for maintenance, what are you using to wash the coated F150?

    Hey Mike!

I really appreciate you having a look and offering that suggestion...I've actually been wondering in the back of my mind if I would be better off without the handle, so this answers that question definitively for me! Thanks!!

For maintenance washes, I use a pH neutral soap (think its Meguiar's NXT or something) and then the usual 2 bucket method. Also use a "reload" spray for the coating every 6-8 weeks, but need to get my hands on some more as I just ran out.

I remember walking out into Meguiar's Garage back around 2004 or so and Mike Pennington was testing how long the suds lasted for Meguiar's NXT Tech Wash. He had two buckets, one for the NXT wash and one with a product he was benchmarking against. I think I remember coming back in the next day and there were still suds in the bucket with NXT Tech Wash. Memory could be wrong but I remember the suds lasted a long time.

But yeah - stick with a car wash soap that's pH neutral and is just soap, not unwanted ingredients once you switch over to a ceramic paint coating.

Love the glassy look on your truck!
