Few weeks ago, I posted this thread: Paint Overspray on 2008 Audi R8 V-10
Customer had paint overspreay on his Audi R8 V10. Customer went to Mesa for a haircut and parked next to a building under renovation. White paint over spray was all over the vehicle. It was mainly on the hood near the cowl, windshield, roof but worse was in the side vents, and rear deck lid. For the side vents we managed to detail every honeycomb with many q-tips and remove the paint drops. This was detailing at it's best because we promised 100% of the paint would be gone. It was
The entire vehicle was wrapped in clear-bra except for the engine bay deck-lid (which previously I thought was clearbra, and why I never polished it in prev appointments). Luckily we got 99% of the paint overspray off with fine clay, however, here is where clear-bra is a double edge sword: Most would be tempted to use a Medium Clay, however, PPF has diminished returns on polishing. The goal was to remove the paint-oversrpay without damaging the PPF and restore the coating after the clay and polish.
At the end of the day we put 14 hours into this bad road track killer and it was 105 degrees w/ 5% humidity. Tricky thing about clear-bra is it can be polished, however with diminished returns, and one must be careful of heat build up. Onto the detailes:

Great work and write up and pictures!
Is ppf like hard clearcoats when polishing in your experience?
Did polish some scuff marks on a Nissan Navara truck (Frontier? ) 2014 on the front bumper. It was ppf there and was very hard to get any correction on it. Was needed to go up to fg400 and an acrylic wool pad on a mini polisher. Don't know if it's a original or aftermarket ppf film.
That paint is awesome on the R8. And think the customer has fun on track with it

Thanks Swetm! No PPF is opposite of hard clear coats. Soft vinyl with a bit of coating on them. That's why I always use the phrase "diminished returns." You can get minor swirls / scratches but that is probably leveling the coating on the PPF, past that once the vinyl is scratched it's done, easier just to replace.

Thanks Tom, We started on the vehicle Friday evening and worked until about 1 am, then started right back at it again at 8 am on Saturday. By the time I finished it was 100 in the garage and about 105 outside. For the q-tips, I typically use Megs D114. This seemed to work nicely, painstaking task though. Then I applied DLUX after.
