1955 Studebaker - Empty Pockets!

Hey there fellow Geeks.

I thought I would share this one with you all. A bit of a strange one in terms of being not all that common down in these parts.

A 1955 Studebaker Transtar truck. Clearly not an original paint scheme & albeit, not a fresh respray either but not in the worst condition with mainly moderate swirls, some RIDS & the good ol' holograms on some panels. Paint was on the harder side but responded well with Meguiars 101 on an Orange LC Hybrid Force pad via Flex 3401. Finished down nice enough after compounding but to sqeeze a bit more gloss out of the ol' girl I followed up with Meguiars 205 on LC white Force pads & then top top it off I finished it off with CarPro's Essence+ on a CarPro Gloss pad, again - all on my beloved Flex 3401s.

Appologies for the lack of 50/50 pictures but this was a "get it done" situation but the results are pretty clear anyhow.

Right, onto the pictures. This is how it looked after waterless wash, decon etc . . .









Lets light these defects up with the SCANGRIP Sunmatch light - SCANGRIP Sunmatch, swirl finding light



















So not terrible in terms of correctability but certainly alot of room for improvement. Here are the pictures of the finished results -























Looking pretty sweet inside. The sun finally made an appearance, so it was off outside for some sunshine pictures. We are slap bang in the middle of pollen season too, & it seems heavier this year (Ha - I say that every year!) so it wasn't long until the Studebaker was yellow!




























So there you have it. A 1955 Studebaker Transtar truck gettin' it's shine on down here in New Zealand. I am no photographer by any means, my camera is a basic point a shoot deal but I must admit - I like this last picture with the sun sparkling off it . . .

I agree, not a bad looking truck at all. I cannot remember ever seeing a Transtar before but I have seen a couple of later model Studebaker Champ versions.

Polishing out SIVs is a whole nuther thing, isn't it! It feels so special to polish this out than a regular daily driver.

I can just feel the fun factor that one gets from polishing something just like that Studebaker! And the color? Lordy, seeing the transformation in purple is a lot more fun than something like white.
