Chevy SS Paint Correction and Glass Coating

This Chevy SS returned to have the paint corrected again and coated with a glass coating (not sure I can mention the brand as it is not sold on Autogeek) for longer lasting, stronger, and all around better protection than wax. It had light to moderate swirls but having dealt with the paint on this car before I knew it wasn't going to be easy.

I started with a test spot on the hood. Combo: Flex 3401, Yellow Rupes polishing pad, and Menzerna 3000. It gave good gloss but didn't remove all of the deeper swirls. And even after three slow passes there were still some deeper swirls and scratches. So I knew I needed something with more cut. I stepped up to an orange pad with Menzerna 2500. This got the swirls out but created a haze on the doors and fenders and would stick to the paint like glue. It didn't matter what compound or polish I used, it would cling to the paint for dear life and smear around. The only way to get it off was an IPA wipe down. I normally wipe the panel down with IPA but have never had a hard time removing polish from the paint.

The roof, or trunk have hard paint and the rest of the car is soft... The roof and trunk were cut with a Lake Country purple foam wool pad and Meg's 101. This finished down perfectly and wiped off with literally no pressure... Final polish was done with a red Griots waxing pad and Menzerna 3000.

    Awesome work.

Also, your nighttime pics with the sunbursts are too cool.
