Diatomaceous earth in a '15 Passat TDI...

2015 VW Passat TDI, leased car being returned. Owner was concerned about fleas in the car from his dog, so they coated the interior with Diatomaceous earth, used for multiple things one being a natural pesticide. Props to them for staying chemical free on the inside of a car, but......pics speak for themselves. Lots and LOTS of vacuuming, Griots Interior Cleaner, Griots Leather 3-1 and Hyperdressing at 4:1 was all I needed for the transformation. Enjoy!

DE works well in carpets, maybe on seats, but hard plastics?

cd/dvd player is toast now probably. Wonder how switches will hold up as well as what's in the ac vents.

hahaa, wow...a bit over kill there. I wouldn't think fleas would stay in a car for too long. Surely the risk of infestation was very low.

Could've simply used flea spray...very, very effective! And much cleaner!
And if one was to think about it---A car doesn't provide a food source as well as a place to lay eggs. Inside of a car is too hot and too dry.
All that that was a waste of time.
Anyways...a great job there getting all that stuff out!

I was wondering that too. Hard to see in the pics, but the dust made it's way inside the instrument cluster too. I'm not sure if its corrosive, i don't think it is, but it gets gummy and thick when wet. Next winter will be interesting for that car!

OMG...what a disaster! Reminds me of other ding-dong adventures like the vids of people pressure washing the inside of the car.
