New Lake Country microfiber pads meet a 1967 Camaro show car

Hi everyone. I got a chance this week to try out the new microfiber pads from Lake Country and wanted to share my experience. I teamed up with my buddy Steve at Ultimate Detailing on a customer's 1967 Camaro that had received a repaint not too long ago.

The body shop guys left a little to be desired. Some areas were a lot worse than others but we knew we could clean things up.

First off, the pad construction seems to be of high quality and the fibers are just a little plusher than the Meguiar's cutting discs I usually use. The blue backing portion also seems a little bit denser.

I decided to use McKee's Fast Compound and my Rupes MKII to help with the defect removal.

Pad rotation was super smooth and cutting ability was fantastic. Hardly any marring/haze left behind. Nothing a quick once over with a fine polish can't handle.

My buddy Steve used some CarPro microfibers pads which work very nicely too from my experience with them. They yielded the same quality results as the Lake Country pads.

These can really take a lot of abuse. One pad can go a long way if you clean it regularly as you work. The fibers are pretty easy to keep from getting matted down.

We used the 3 inch pads and a Rupes 75E for the trickier spots on the car and they performed just as well. Anywhere more intricate got treated to the iBrid.

For the last step I combined CarPro Essence and the black microfiber finishing pads. They finish down just as well as a foam pad and leave the surface very clean so you hardly have anything left to wipe off. No marring whatsoever on this paint. I clean my pads after every work section so sticking fibers was not an issue either.

Oh and on a side note, Nick was gracious enough to send me a bottle of a PBMG metal polish currently in development. We used it at the end of the detail on all of the metal trim and wheels on the car and it performed excellently. Here are some before and afters.

We finally finished up with an application of CQuartz and admired the results.

The car came out looking phenomenal in very little time. These pads knock out defects fast.

Overall very happy with how the correction came out. I'd say we got around ~90% defect removal. If any of you are in Houston this weekend at Autorama, be sure to check out the car at the show!

Well that's all I've got for now. Thanks for looking and have a great holiday weekend!

Very nice write up. What did you do to prime the pad at its initial use?

Harris stunning work as always man! Great feedback on the LC pads. I currently use the BOSS microfiber pads with good results. I have been eyeing these as well. I may jump on them.

As for the Nano ibrid I am picking mine up Monday and have a ton of cars lined up over the next 2 weeks. Looking forward to using it.

Thanks for always posting your great work and thoughts.
