Thumbs up Pinnacle Black Label (sealant vs coating)

Please tell me which to use:

Wishing to "protect" my paint with a coating or sealant. Not sure of the difference, but, I've narrowed my brand to one of the Pinnacle offerings.

Do I use one of their "coatings" or one of their "sealants"?

What the heck is the difference?

I'm wanting to protect my paint with something that should last around 6-12 months if possible. Car is a DD and parked outside 24/7. I don't have an issue with washing/detailing my car about every other week and will be willing to use the "boosters" if they are truly helpful.

    TIA for your assistance.

(are the boutique brands really that much better than say McKee's?)

One's a coating and one's a sealant. Coatings last longer and are more durable.

PBL V2 has a stated longevity of 3 years. The sealant I believe is up to 1 year.

McKee's 37 paint coating is a 2 year coating. Very similar to PBL.

McKees is a botique brand, just not overpriced lol.

A coating requires exceptionally clean paint, a sealant requires clean paint, preferably wiped down with ipa minimum after a wash or it may not last too long.

I just posted a simialar reply here,

    http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...ng-my-car.html

    Kind of fit here too...

Let me clear up some confusion.

Waxing your car is SEALING the paint. You seal it to

    A: Protect it.
    B: Make it look good.

When it comes to sealing your paint there are THREE categories of product you can use to SEAL the paint.

    1. Car waxes - Usually some type of natural protection ingredient like Carnauba wax.

    2. Synthetic paint sealants - The protection ingredients are man-made or synthetic. The opposite of natural protection ingredients.

    3. Paint coatings - Usually some form of ceramic, silica or quarts is touted as the primary protection ingredient in paint coatings.

The Klasse Twins are considered to fall into category 2 - Synthetic paint sealants as they use some form of acrylic resin as the protection ingredient.

Clear as mud so far? Here's the part where I clear up the confusion.

You only have to use ONE product from ONE of the three categories. You don't have to use on and then another.

Then what I do is DO A GREAT JOB OF APPLYING the one product.

    Does that help?

Here's two article I wrote for you to check out...

3-Categories: Waxes, Paint Sealants and Coatings

This one I wrote specifically to address HOW TO apply the KLASSE Sealant Glaze I just didn't use the product name in the title as I didn't want to scare anyone.

Anyone about to use Klasse Sealant Glaze for the VERY FIRST TIME should read this first.

A tip for working with waxes, paint sealants or coatings that are new to you

    Hope this helps...
