Re: Quickjacks are a game changer!

I was ready to pull the trigger on the Costco deal but I need the longer version as my cars jack points are too far apart.
  2. Re: Optimum Opti-Bond still a relevant tire dressing?

I get pretty good durability out of 253 as well. And it seems to build up over time. I've also had great luck with AA Extreme Gel. Both make it through a couple of drives in the rain. Optibond...
  3. Re: Optimum Opti-Bond still a relevant tire dressing?

Not sure it was a favorite, more of another product that got on the hype train. The best was the silly spray gun when a simple tire swipe was less work.

I tried hard to like the stuff, and at the...

Re: What is a good product to fill swirls?

Klasse Sealant Glaze works well for minor swirls and has a layering effect. Works even better at at 1:3 ratio with water. I documented it with pictures on Autopia about 10 years ago. Takes about 3...
  5. Re: How best to negotiate with dealer for new car price ?

Congrats. Nissan always has crazy deals. We got out leaf for $11k off plus the federal rebate of $7500... And zero percent financing. Feels funny to buy a new car for more than half off.

Re: Which do you prefer: iOS or Android?

I went from BB to Windows Mobile to Android (way back when) to iPhone 4 and 4s and back to Android after the jailbreaks became a big hassle.

So glad I did. iOS is like a kids toy. Can't anything...

    Re: Longest lasting AIO?

Good is relative. It cuts well for an AIO. And yes both melt into the paint. Only a quick buff required.

ZAIO or 360. They seem suspiciously similar.

    Re: Hand polishing advice

You can walk coast to coast too, but why. Machines are so cheap now it's crazy to try by hand.
  10. Re: How best to negotiate with dealer for new car price ?

Great advice on European, terrible for Honda and Toyota. I can buy those cheaper new than a 2-3 year old one with average mileage.
  11. Re: How best to negotiate with dealer for new car price ?

I've bought over 50 cars, most of those for myself, some for friends.

Start shopping mid month. Preferably on a slow month like January or February. Work with at least 3 dealers. Don't be afraid...
  12. Re: Optimum Opti-clean vs Optimum Detailer and Gloss enhancer

Detailer leaves a smidge more but it won't last past a couple of rains or a wash.

    Re: Bird got me!

That's strange, never heard of bird poop etching glass [emoji3]. A little polish should take it out, along with whatever coating is in there.
  14. Re: Product to prevent new Honda CRV cladding/molding from fading?

I think a lot of mfgs make that claim based on the fact that a product is sitting on top of your surface filtering a small percentage of UV, but to me it seems like a half truth. A few products claim...
  15. Re: Deep talk about wheel cleaners - alkaline, acid, pH levels

Don't you live is southern California? Aside from UV, it's the most friendly environment for cars.

The chemistry is there. Reactive aluminum plus strong acids/bases. I just can't see how you...
  16. Re: Product to prevent new Honda CRV cladding/molding from fading?

I used OCW for 3 plus years on my Wrangler including the trim. It looked brand new when I sold it while most jeeps of the same age were already grey.
  17. Deep talk about wheel cleaners - alkaline, acid, pH levels

That applies to brand new wheels... Maybe. But in real life there are scratches and/or curb rash which means bare aluminum. Even on brand new wheels there is bare aluminum somewhere. I've seen...

    Re: Making silver paint pop

To make silver pop you need a bright, shiny sealant with little to no depth. Whatever you hated on your dark colored car is a good start. I've owned a lot of silver cars and what has really made...

    Re: Silly question about pads!

How were they stored? I've got really old pads and no issues.
  20. Re: I've tried all kinds of waxes and sealants and I keep going back to Collinite 476.

Self cleaning? I've only used Opticoat, Mr Fix and M37 but I still need to wash my car. Compared to an oily wax or silicone loaded sealant, sure they do better but compared to a good sealant or wax...

Re: Drying: Waffle or Microfiber, you prefer?

A certain auto store sells Griot's stuff and has nice sales plus coupons. You can get them for $8 each delivered.

Drying: Waffle or Microfiber, you prefer?

Me too. I haven't looked back. Game changer just like clay towels.
  24. Re: How to inspect paint for swirls using overhead sunlight

Polarized sunglasses help a ton in sunlight for spotting swirls.

    Tire Finish that Lasts??

Tufshine. It's been around a long time, maybe 10 years, for good reason. It works if you do the prep work correctly. If you don't want to prep, AA Extreme Gel is the longest lasting stuff that...
