Re: Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

You make it sound like this is unusual. I don't think I've ever bought a car and NOT started looking at upgrades like wheels, tires, suspension mods, etc. Most of the time I never pull the trigger,...

Re: Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

It's funny that I don't mind the side vents. Maybe because I simply see them as a function of the mid-engine lay out. I do think they would look better if they were body colored and didn't have the...

Re: Anyone still use old school combos?

How do you define "old school combos"? Combinations of what?

Based on some recent threads here, there are still plenty of people using carnauba waxes and all manner of sealants.

Re: Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

    Glad it's not just me.

I don't like the GV70 in pictures, but I've seen a couple on the road and they look amazing. They look like nothing else on the road and have a real presence that's hard to...

Re: Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

Better yet, a Soul N. Lower the thing a tad, give it more power and a DCT with the AWD and you'd have a little rally car. As-is the standard Soul is a shockingly good car.
  6. Re: Got an IK foamer, now need a wheel cleaner that is non acid and clings well

A lot of it depends on brake pads and how the car is driven.

My own personal experience for cars I maintain and wash frequently to keep them in good shape:

Daughter's Honda Fit: I never need...
  7. Re: Why do you use the brands you do, & not others??

    My process for selection?

This. When available, I'll always consider the thoughts/opinions of members here and elsewhere I trust. I may disagree with them, but will always consider what they...
  8. Re: Wheel/tire detailing roller stand....recommendations?

I did the bucket thing a couple times, but found it started to distort the shape of the bucket so I stopped doing it. This was with a wheel/tire set.

While it doesn't sit them up higher like a...

Re: Product Suggestions to Avoid Water Spots

The one I use, CarPro ECH2O, lists out ratios for waterless, rinseless, and QD on the label. If I remember correctly QD is 1:20. I think a couple other waterless washes do the same.
  10. Re: Protecting Soft Touch surfaces from degradation, is it possible?

I've owned 2x BMW's and a VW over the years. All of them were in my garage for at least 6~7 years. My current BMW while only being in my possession for three years is pushing six years old. None...

    Re: Ceramic coating and humidity

The lighter the color, the harder it is to see the flashing or hazing. White and silver are probably the worst. The last time I did a sealant on a white car I had a terrible time seeing the hazing...

    Re: Ceramic coating and humidity

Ah, OK. I'd still expect it to haze slower and even then you might have to experiment to see the right amount of time wait before buffing.

With CQuartz in high humidity, not only does it flash...

Re: What happened to Autopia Forum?

I haven't gone there today to see what I get, but they had a similar problem a week or two ago. Took them a few hours to fix it. Not sure if it is a result of maintenance going on in the background...
  15. Re: My 18th trip to The Tail of the Dragon & Family trip combined!

Can't make any promises, but PM me when it gets a little closer. I'd be interested.
  16. Re: BMW Side Window Black Trim Restoration? Suggestions

Trim restoral products will work well as long as you keep the wax and sealants off them. You might want to tape off those areas when applying the LSP to keep anything off that rubber trim.
  17. Re: My 18th trip to The Tail of the Dragon & Family trip combined!

What a great trip! You're daughter is adorable and what a great time to have some quality father/daughter bonding. My girls are all grown at this point, but I have fond memories of doing trips like...

    Re: Ceramic coating and humidity

From my experience flash times on some coatings will be much longer. At your temperatures it probably won't be too bad, but when cool AND damp, it really stretches things out.

    Putting a space...

    Re: Ceramic coat 2nd coat

If 12~24 hours is the recommended time line, I'd be tempted to wait longer until I had the time to do the job right. At that point, I would wash the car, give it another wipe down with a coating...

Re: Product Suggestions to Avoid Water Spots

Interesting. That is really strange. I use it only as a QD and never had a problem until it gets below 50F. In fact, I last used it weekend in temps around the upper 60's to wipe down my doors...

Re: NEW NISSAN FRONTIERS HITTING THE LOTS.

How is the size compared to the previous generation? I am far from being a "truck person", but have always felt the Frontier and Tacoma are the perfect size.

I got a previous gen Frontier as a...
  22. Re: FLEX XFE 7-12 3" Mini Polisher - verification on where made

Re: Product Suggestions to Avoid Water Spots

Streaky? What dilution are you using. The of of the biggest reason I use ECH2O is I've never had streaks. I use it a 1:20 and in warm weather it's wipe on/off for me and probably one of the...

Re: Product Suggestions to Avoid Water Spots

Unfortunately its the LSP's, like a coating, that have the properties which create a hydrophobic surface. It's all about the surface conditions. I can't imagine any soap/wash product that would alter...

Re: Looking for advice on new compound

What type of car is this?

You may not need something as aggressive as a compound, especially if the car is one with soft paint. I've been able to do some pretty good correcting and one-steps with...
