Re: Car commercials are the worst

Dodge is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of commercials lately. They have a lot of cool cars to back it up too.

Re: Dirty Girl - Extreme Maserati Makeover!

Do you normally compound the whole car like that? Isn't it like cement by the time you're done with the whole car? My method is to do a panel, and get the compound off asap so it's not a pita to...
  3. Re: Need detailer in Phoenix area to wash my cars while I'm overseas, looking for recommendation

Brian Shipe @ Dezert Detail is in the North Valley and is mobile so he could help you out too.
  4. Re: Need detailer in Phoenix area to wash my cars while I'm overseas, looking for recommendation

I detail out of my house and know of quite a few local detailers. What part of Phoenix are you in? If you're in the far north Phoenix/Cave Creek area, I might be able to help out. Otherwise, I...

Re: Which car goes in the garage?

Why not alternate every week? I'd have a hard time parking a nice new Mustang out on the street and don't have much love for F-bodies, so the choice would be easy for me.

Re: F11 - Love it, but is there a better choice

Polishing removes ceramic coatings, not sanding.
  7. Re: Are there any foods that you don't like or care for?

    Yah, mayo is gross.
  8. Re: Are there any foods that you don't like or care for?

I recently had a beets in a salad for the first timeand can say that I never want to taste that again. I'm also not a fan of anything with cream cheese. Most people find the second one weird, but...

Re: 2015 Nissan GTR track car

I think you need some bigger buckets to hold those steam rollers. Looks great.

    Re: Cleaning tires and rims

Most people recommend rotating at 6k mile intervals. I'm not sure what an 'automatic' torque wrench is, but yes, I do torque mine down to 100 ft/lb.

If you have a couple buckets, it's pretty...

    Re: Cleaning tires and rims

For my personal vehicles, I clean the wheels and tires up very thoroughly when its time to rotate the tires. I'm not going to take them off just to clean, but while they're already off, why not?

    Re: Longest lasting AIO?

D166 definitely does not last 6 months. We're lucky to get 6 days in the summer in AZ out of any Carnauba-based product.

Re: Bee Droppings? Difficult to get off.

That's bee poop? Every single car that I work on has those little spots and I usually use my fingernail. I had no idea what it was from, but they're a PITA.

Re: Microfiber pads for the 3401

I use a purple foamed wool pad with FG400 when I need to cut through the bad stuff on my 3401. It's a HUGE step up from an orange foam pad.

Re: How many here are still using the Porter Cable DA?

I use it for two things:
    1.) Applying sealant
2.) Cleaning my pads. I spray IPA on a pad, scrub it with a brush, hold a microfiber on it and turn it on at level 3 to remove the gunk.

Re: When to ceramic coat wheels

I'll be dropping the wheels/tires off at discount tire and then bringing them home and installing them myself. I've had my SRT for almost 11 years and the only time somebody else touches it is for...

    When to ceramic coat wheels

I just bought a set of new wheels for my car. Do you guys typically coat your wheels before or after you get the tires mounted and balanced? I'm thinking that the guys at Discount Tire will...
  19. Re: Review: Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax by Mike Phillips

Somebody mentioned 6 months of protection with D166. Maybe if your car sits in a garage and doesn't leave it. Longevity is a BIG drawback of D166 for me out here in Arizona. Anything...
  20. Re: Review: Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax by Mike Phillips

I've used D166 with an orange Lake Country pad on my Flex 3401 on a '14 Black Tesla, and it came out great. It is soft paint and this combo works quite well. I plan to do it again this or next...

Re: My Camaro is pretty much finished.

I'm so glad you removed the black plastidip from the wheels. Just that in itself made the car look 100 times better. When are you taking it to the track?

Re: New lightweight wheels for the SRT

Yes, I went down from a 17x8 (wrapped in 245/40) wheel (44# per corner) down to a 15x7 (31# per corner). The new rims weigh about 13.5# each.

65765I dropped approximately 55# of rotating mass by installing these new lightweight wheels. While I had the car off the ground, I coated the wheels, calipers, and inner fender liners with Carpro...

For $50k+, I'd want at least 400 horsepower out of a "sports car".
