  1. Re: Rust or Rust Dust Spots or Something Else???

open the hood and look on at the underside of that edge. the sheetmetal should be folded over on itself right there. is that rusted up? if so, your best bet is a new hood becuase what youre seeing on...
  2. Re: Rust or Rust Dust Spots or Something Else???

im with robert. imo, IF that area was repainted, then prepwork fell short. its not the best of light or angles in the pic but it looks like filler was put over that rust then painted. no proper prep...

if theres cc failure then the basecoat underneath isnt ok. if the plan was to just remove the clear, the basecoat will be wasted in no time. that basecoat needs clearcoat on top for protection. ...

  6. Re: Please Help Me With A Long Term Protection Plan For My New Truck.

that should be a base/clearcoat paint job then. one thing ya have going for ya either way is that white . white is the most uv friendly color there is.

  8. Re: Two Schools of Thought - Sanding in Straight-lines or in a Crosshatch Pattern

most definately. its real easy to sand through clear on body lines. also easy to not make clear flat. i did quite a bit of work on this 96 about 6 years ago. new rockers, cab corner, and lower door...

    Re: Ceramic Coating Prevents Rust?

seems ceramic coatings are very thin. have a tire throw a rock and it would chip through it,the paint, and the primer leaving a place for rust to start. theres many times the rust starts from inside....

Re: Marring? New Black Single Stage Paint

1200 to 2000 grit is way too big of a jump in grits, which you could be seeing the 1200 grit scratch pattern still.
try a different test spot- sand with 1200 in one direction like this \\\\\\\\\....

    Re: Customerís Truck Arrives Muddy

my suggestion is always do a little extra even if it isnt noticed. doing a little extra isnt about the customer-its about how you feel when the job is done.

    Re: Customerís Truck Arrives Muddy

relatively new to detailing and $400 for the work done seems reasonable to me.
i dont find anything wrong with doing a bit extra for free.

  23. Re: Switching to High Mileage Oil made a huge difference..

  24. Re: Switching to High Mileage Oil made a huge difference..

switching to a 10w 30 might even do more. 5w is pretty thin and for colder climates. switching from 5w to 10w stopped a lifter tick in my 08 grand prix.
