    Re: Why 5.5

My 2 cents on the topic, with the full disclaimer I'm but a mere enthusiast, not a professional.

As was mentioned earlier, I think the whole 5.5" conversion dates back to the Porter Cable days...
  2. Re: cleaning pads after using Sonax EX 04-06

If you wanted to mechanize your cleaning process without breaking the bank, I made a cheap DIY pad cleaning station because I was having trouble getting Blackfire One Step out of my pads. Worked...

    Re: Tint adhesive removal

I just posted something similar to this here and on the sister site. Helpful folks chimed in with recommendations for: Tar-x (or other tar remover), 3m adhesive remover, and mineral spirits. Also...
  4. PPE Question - Respirator Recommendations

Wondering what folks are using for respirators - either the mask itself as well as the cartridges for it.

Main use I'll be using it would be for Tornadoring interiors, so the chance of either fine...
  5. Re: Plastic bottle that has a built-in measuring chamber.

You can also pick up a measuring add on on the AG site: Pro Blend Bottle Proportioner 32 oz.

Threads onto one of the bottles you already have but works the same way.

    Re: Big Life Changes

    Congrats!

My first thought was I'm looking forward to before and after photos from "detailing" the new addition. :D Now your cleaning sessions will be therapeutic for both parties involved....

    Re: Incredibly Cheap Finds

Keeping on my theme of raiding the painting aisle at the big box hardware stores (just did a DIY pad washer setup for about $30), today while I was in the big green store I swung through the paint...

    Re: Removing Window Tint

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be glamorous work, but in the end someone has to be able to do it. Was just curious if this was one where if you haven't done hundreds of cars it comes off like smoked...

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I'm sure you could use the polisher, I just wasn't super excited to run a machine near water plugged into the wall. :o

The adapter works out nice because your drill gets spaced away from the...

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Oh, nothing too crazy my friend. Just laziness + … thriftiness (cheap sounds so… cheap. ) :D

I really like how big the ribs are for scrubbing the pads - I’d say they’re about the...

Re: Back into the RC buggy hobby.

My 2wd Electric Buggy from back in the day (Associated RC10 CE) had oil filled shocks. It was neat - you could drop it from at least waist height and it just landed like a wet towel (but didn't bang...
  20. Re: Question about removing this dent on my rear wheel well.

It's crazy the stuff they can pull out. The less time the metal has to "set" the better, and in some cases (sharp creases) it won't be 100%, but absolutely worth trying.

    I'd rather have PDR done...

  22. Re: Dark edge line above 3M tape used on vent shades applied to paint

Wonder if it’s dirt that accumulated at the edge of the adhesive tape and got kinda buffed into the paint from the tape moving from the force of the wind pushing...

  24. Re: Product recommendations for decon/wash prior to full correction

Does it show it's been a while since I've had a chance to put pad to paint?
  25. Re: Product recommendations for decon/wash prior to full correction

    Thanks all for the input.

Just to clarify on my original post, all of this is preparation for paint correction, not just applying an LSP. I'm in the camp where I wouldn't clay unless I'm...
