Re: Griot's (Cerakote) Trim Coat Wipes

I agree. I just used this to restore trim on a 10 year old compact SUV. I kept it to textured plastics.

On the rear bumper plastic it came out ok. I actually like it. But on the textured...

Re: 2017 Kia Forte, hard or soft paint?

Gear driven (Flex 3401/XCE/Rupes Mille) do not work well with microfiber pads and are not recommended.

    Way too grabby.

  8. Re: Suggestions? Most durable paint sealant, that’s easy on-off?

I'd be tempted to use Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating.

Typically I'd never recommend coating a vehicle without polishing first. But in your case it ticks all your boxes for performance, ease of...

Re: How to remove adhesive from paint

3M Strip off wheel (attaches to your drill) works great on that kind of thing. At least the thicker parts.

Then you only use a little adhesive remover on the tiny bits left behind.

    I find this...

Re: New to Paint Correction - Help!

GM white really pops. Not sure what it is, but I always do a second look at every white shiny car I see and it is always a GM product.

    Re: Griots pads

Short answer is yes. You can use any liquid with any pad.

Just make logical decisions. For example it's not common practice to use a finish polish with a heavy cutting wool pad.

    If you...

Re: How to remove tree sap

There are a lot of people with this perspective about things like emojis, social media, technology from the last decade, etc. They just avoid it all and associate it with the younger generation.

    Nano: luxury or very useful

While there is overlap in what the tools can do I see them as different tools.

I almost exclusively use the PXE as a 3" DA polisher. Small, light, effective.

I grab the nano to get into...

    Re: GTechniq G1 w/o G4

No. Use any polish you want on the glass and then do a wipe down afterward.

I use 50/50 IPA on glass before applying G1. Has not failed me yet.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Worked on the interior of a 2011 Mariner. Rough shape but big improvement.

Took a picture mid cleanup of the door.

Re: Pressure Washer Spray Gun - What's yours?

The active gets praise for it's output. It uses a different kind of pump to achieve pressure and flow numbers that no other pressure washer at it's price point can really hit.

    That being said it...

Re: Removal of old sealant / wax

It's a best practice because clay can mar the surface.

Many people just clay and apply a wax.

    Personally I won't clay unless I'm polishing.
  22. Re: How to clean microfiber towels when not a full load?

No it heats the water hotter than that depending on how soiled you say the load is.

    Common on LG washers.

Re: Ceramic for northern climates + salt roads

I wouldn't expect iron remover to make any difference on water behavior.

Tar-X on the other hand will. It's a fairly aggressive cleaner that will really help unclog a coating.

  25. Re: How's Megs 105, LC 5" Cyan HydroFoam pad and PC 7424 combo

Will M105 remove more clear than M205? Yes. Will it remove too much? Hard to say without measuring before and after on a test spot using the process you plan to use on the whole car.
