    Re: Window tinting question

Windshield tint is illegal in MN, so I haven’t been in a lot of cars that have it (I do car fixing for a living, so I’m in quite a few cars a year); the ones that I have been in it’s not uncommon for...
  2. Re: Griot's Garage G15/G21 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher *Ground-Up Redesign*

This may sound counter-intuitive, but try switching to thicker pads or 6.5” pads. I’ve found my G9 actually turns them better on intricate surfaces with less stalling than the 5.5” BOSS pads.
  3. Re: New To Detailing and Have a Car Worth Preserving!

    Welcome to the forum!

Congrats on the M3! Is it stock or modded? Any plans either way?

If it was coated several years ago you could start by doing a basic decontamination wash and see what the...

Now that spring looks like it might finally be staying, starting to think about doing some carpet cleaning to reset the interiors in my car and the Mrs'. They're not in bad shape (despite having a...

Re: PBMG brands 40% off on Autogeek!

If you look at the kits, seems like you could stand to get some really good deals if you don't mind a couple extra things you may not need (is there such a thing? )

    EDIT: Ooop - missed...

    Re: Eldorado2k?

I’ll fire him a traditional letter in the mail tomorrow. Sent him a container a while back for storing a synthetic clay mitt, double checked and I still have his address in my PM box.

Re: Griot's coming with more new towels

So, after looking back at the site, looks like the Brilliant Finish cannon is more entry level. Electroplated aluminum manifold vs the all stainless of the BOSS cannon, plus it doesn`t have the auto...

Griot's coming with more new towels

Noticed on the "What's New" spot on their website that they've got a new round of towels coming.

PFM Edgeless Detailing Towels - Looks like they took the edge styling (not satin banded) of their...

Re: Griots Garage Rinseless Wash Question

The Brilliant Finish Rinseless, or the Rinseless Wash and Wax?

For the Brilliant Finish, they originally only recommended the 128:1 for rinseless, but they’ve since updated to include recommending...

    Re: (Home) Water Heater Question

Yeah, going forward an annual flush will be part of the maintenance regime. I'll also be clearing out the brine tank every couple years for our water softener after finding out what that looked like...

    (Home) Water Heater Question

Here's a slightly off topic one where I'd love to get folk's input.

Cliff's notes version: Does anyone have recommendations for an intelligent water shutoff system that can cut off water supply...

Re: Did I burn through the clearcoat?

I agree with IH8SPM - that definitely looks like it's been repainted. Aftermarket clear can be much softer than what the car came with.

What were your steps that brought you here? What product,...

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I brought it to a PPF place that we've had do work for our shop in the past. I'll confess, I didn't even ask what they put on! I can dig and see if I've got the receipt on the off chance it's on...

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Oh, it’s definitely my least favorite way to do it, but I was just really tired of looking at my poor salt crusted car.

Thankfully we can take an hour lunch. I think set up to PFM wipe down was...

Thanks for the honest feedback on the Z1! I nearly picked up a tube when it’s hype train rolled in. Wanted to wait to hear more, mainly about how it behaves as far as bird bomb/water spot etching;...

Just curious - have you tried different LSP's in that area? Seems like if one has proven to not resist staining I'd want to rotate through some different options. Instead of wax try an Acrylic...

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Nice! I was looking at that pluck out foam while I was thinking of how I might do it.

I’ve kinda got limited storage space to work with, so I wanted the smallest box I could get away with.
